Home Haemo advice?

Can anyone shed some light on home haemodialysis? Or any advice would be great!

my dad is currently on Haemodialysis (via central line) done in hospital. He has been told he needs to do longer hours & home haemo is an option!

The problem is… he had a Cardiac arrest 8 months ago whilst on Dialysis in hospital luckily he is okay now!

My mum was learning the machines ready for home dialysis at the time and now because of the Cardiac arrest it has completely put her off and she doesn’t want that responsibility.

dad is understandably fed up of hospitals & wants dialysis at home!

(PD did not work & is no longer an option)

Any advice? Are there community nurses that can put him on the machine?

Thanks in advance.

I'm so sorry to hear about your father's cardiac arrest. Hopefully someone will reply to your questions. If not, you may wish to solicit information on the "Kidney Dialysis" page instead of this one. I know a good many there know a lot about the HHD and will likely respond. I really appreciate your willingness to help your parents find a good solution. Awesome!

Bassetmommer does home hemo and her previous post go over in detail the things she's encountered. Since everyone is different just use it as a starting point to develop your own questions to ask your healthcare team.
