I am at stage 5 and I still eat beans. I get most of my protein from beans. Unless you have a problem with high phosphorus, you should be fine to eat beans.

It is actually the potassium that is VERY high in beans. Cannellini beans especially and I love greens and beans. You only absorb less than half the phosphorous. Take a look at your labs and see what those values are and if normal, enjoy a healthy protein filled legume.

Yes, green beans, lentils, kidney beans, tofu. No potassium or phosphorous issues though. Soaking can leach some of these 2 minerals out, I understand, and easy to do especially with dry beans.

Absolutely. I had eGFR at 34 and was put on a plant based diet. Only other change was hydrochlorothiazide dose that was cut in half. Lots and lots of beans. In two and a half months my eGFR went up to 55. No problems with potassium or phosphorus so I will keep eating those beans!
