You should go to the doctor to see what you GFR and creatinine are. Itching really comes with high phosphorous. So you need to have that checked out. All these are blood tests.
But....usually high phosphorous affects all of you, skin and hair. It is pervasive and annoying. The fact it is just your scalp would suggest something else. And at 3a, it is highly unlikely it is phosphorous.
I would change shampoos and see what happens.
As far as the peeing, stop drinking fluids after 5 pm. See if that helps. Part of it is just being a lady of 71 years.
Well yes and no. If this is brand new, maybe not so good. But I found older women, and some men have a tendency to urinate more at night. Tell your doctor about it and see what they think. Again, cut down on fluids after 5pm to none. Check your medications for diuretics. BP meds often do that. NO caffeine including teas. Watch out for consuming things that turn to fluids such as watermelon, popsicles and jello.
As far as clear urine goes, I've learned that while my kidneys have limited function, the one thing they do well is filter out water. The rest of their job has to be done in dialysis. (For me.) Phosphorus and Potassium (and all the other toxins) still build up. When I started dialysis in April, I thought that urination was going to become a thing of the past. I'm glad it's not, though. The nightly trips to the bathroom are a double edged butter knife (not as serious as a real sword). They mean that your kidneys are "working" but the clear color means that very little else is being filtered from your blood.
Before my kidneys got to "end-stage", I looked at every trip to the bathroom as another day I get to keep my kidneys. Now, you can have 'em. I'm looking for new ones! LOL
Hi Anne52, I'm also called Ann, and was born in '52, though I'm about to turn 72.
Anyway, as Bassetmommer says, if its just your scalp, it may be the shampoo, or you may be shampooing too often? Probably not your kidneys.
I did read that after 65 or so, people just don't produce the hormone that keeps them from peeing at night. I do restrict fluid in the evening, and it does help, but I still get up 2,3,4 times at night.
