HI, Actually, finding out that your sugar is not great is a good thing. Did being "pre-diabetic" really cause your CKD? It did not help, that's for sure. For folks who read this who do not understand, prediabetic means your sugar level is above normal, which means above 100 but not consistently above 126. The good things in finding out about this is you CAN make a lot of changes that will stop the progression. Diet is the biggest. There is a ton of information out there on diabetes and how to prevent it. I have one resource below. The connection to CKD diabetes is very real. If you can get your numbers for your diabetes in control, it will help your kidneys immensely.
Consider also doing a genetic test specifically for kidney disease. I did not know what caused mine and I did a genetic test. Turns out I have ADTKD UMOD. A rare kidney disease. Search "ADTKD" in this site and you can see my story...
I've noticed that apparently there hasn't been any signs of diabetes for you until now. It generally takes around a decade or so for diabetes to create significant damage in the body. I wonder if perhaps you were diabetic earlier in your life, sent it away for a time, and now it's back. If not, I agree with Quallie that a genetic study would be a wonderful tool to include in your outcomes - some, indeed, have more than one condition affecting their kidney health. If your CKD is exclusively diabetes related, you'll definitely want to keep a close eye on your glucose levels and blood pressure. It's a complex disease that affects the entire body. Hugs.
