Sequential compression for Edema

Hello all,I care for a man with stage 4 cancer and a GFR of 24. He has terrible edema in his legs and stomach. Has anyone had any success using a sequential compression system on their legs for edema or conversely know if this would do more harm than good? His oncologist isn't helpful, he doesn't know a lot about kidney function. Any advice is appreciated.

My husband has venous insufficiency and uses a machine at night for treatment. It goes from his toes to his waist and he slides in and it pumps air into the chambers to move the fluid up. It is like a big massage. However, you have to be careful because that fluid goes somewhere and with CKD, he is stage 3a, you have to make sure you flush it out of your system. He drinks water afterwards.
