Flucuating gfr

I'm not there yet but was wondering what if your gfr goes below 20 for 3 consecutive visits and you start your transplant paperwork then your gfr goes up higher than 20? Do you have to start the transplant paperwork process over again or is it still valid? tia

Transplant evaluation takes a while. They know CKD bounces. But if you are above 20 more often than not, I am not sure they will start the process.

What usually happens if once you are paced on the list, and you go above 20, they just waitlist you. They should not take you off, you just lose the time. You should not have to start all over. Other things can stop your time, like infection or serious illness.

This is how to think of it. Once the eval is done, and you have remained below 20, the clock starts...depending on the center. Say they told you 3 years. This is the clock you are on. You, at that point, are in a queue to receive a kidney. For whatever reason you become incapacitated, they do not remove you from the queue, you just lose your place until you come back into the queue. This is for someone who is waiting on a kidney. If you have a live donor, there is no waiting in a queue.

In the US you only have to be below the line once. I got down to 7 so I could get on the list. I've stayed in the 20s for the past 3 years. My nepho says when my name comes up we will evaluate. He says I can go inactive if I'm not ready and can activate when I am.

Great news, Surely you didn't wait until 7 to get on the list though. I'm thinking it's 20. So, you don't have to retest again. Or maybe just re-evaluate any problem areas you may have and test those. Is that correct? If so that's good. Congrats for you gaining time in your 20's! Plant based could help bring it up but I'm doing it in early stages so not sure how I'd bring it up later. Thanks for the encouragement!

I was in the 30s and had a migraine and was hospitalized for severe dehydration. I was 7 when I went to hospital. So I didn't have a slow decline. Well I had slow decline to the 30s. Immediate jump to 7. Slow increase to low twenties where I have hovered for the last 3 years. I have to have a yearly checkup at the transplant program to make sure I am in compliance. I have to stay under 200 pounds, exercise daily, and whatever else they decide to demand. I go to the YMCA 5 nights a week and rarely cheat. I don't go on the weekends, but try to mallwalk on the weekends.
