QUESTION ABOUT GFR

I am interested in this

Yes, you can become dehydrated very easily from diarrhea. When you are dehydrated before your labs, it can and often reflects as a change or lower number in the GFR. That is why it is important to make sure you drink water before a lab draw.
Bassetmommer, I did drink, but when I am having a bout - the diaheaha continues. Right after the draw I had to rush to the bathroom.

Hi Garden,
Let your doctor know about this. Possibly they can recommend something to better control the IBS which will yield not only your feeling better but more accurate lab results.

Oh my gosh, it sure can effect your GFR, your creatinine, BUN, potassium and magnesium. You can appear, because of your labs, worse than you really are. Diarrhea causes you to lose a lot of water along with the stool.
I have had a transplant and the immunosuppressants have caused me to have bouts of IBS. My doctor will order repeat labs 2 weeks later, if my numbers seem to be off.
He also suggested I take fiber tabs (3 tabs) with every meal.
You need to tell your doctor what is going on with your IBS and see what his suggestions are. Don't suffer quietly!
