My girlfriend has been suffering for 2months post op in and out of the hospital and finnaly found out the surgeon cut/severed her ureter to her right kidney. Wondering after all that time will her kidney be saved? We are thinking she will loose it.

Ureter cut during surgery
That is something you will have ask a nephrologist and or urologist for their opinion.
Sorry for that! Im sure if it was still getting blood from from other veins, it is probably still OK. I pray it is.
Your gf should be seen by a nephrologist or urologist for their opinion. I had the same thing happen to me.
She is getting a bag attached today. How long did your ureter Go being severed. And did they save your kidney. Thanks for replying
For over a year and unfortunately I lost the left kidney.
Suzell really sorry to hear that.
Hi Taivis. So sorry to hear about the ureter damage! I'm sure your girlfriend's swelling and discomfort has been horrible. My hubby also had a urine leak from a ureter "pinprick" hole. In his case, he received a kidney transplant and the hole occurred where the new ureter was stitched into his bladder. So urine poured into his abdomen and exited through his incision. We literally moped it up by taping pee pads over the wound. (Your girlfriend's body seems to have retained the urine and somehow absorbed most of it...so painful.) Anyway, there are a number of reasons for my hubby's issue which I won't go into here. Long story short, it was caught in time (about a month out) and his new kidney is still working fine. Running lab reports has been constant throughout this ordeal as urine floating around and building up inside the body cavity isn't a good thing for sensitive organs. I sense, as long as your girlfriend's lab reports are stable and the urethra problem is repaired, that your girlfriend's kidney(s) will be fine. Sending prayers that this is the case.
So very sad to hear of this tragedy...as long as her other kidney is fine...she can lead a normal life with one kidney...
