I am a 73 year old man from Houston, Texas who is seeking a living kidney donor. My blood type is O+. I realize this is a hard thing to ask for, but that is exactly what I am doing. Please consider being my life saving donor. Must have blood type O.

Thanks and God Bless!

Dear Lonhorn,

There are over 9, 286 members on this site and guess what..... probably 9000 of them also need a kidney. This is not the place to ask. However, if you go to the National Kidney Foundation website, they have a lot of information on how to do an affective ask. I am supposing you have already worked with a transplant team to get approval for transplant. If you have not, start there. Your local hospital can get you going.

Contact the NATIONAL DONOR ALLIANCE and AMERICAN TRANSPLANT FOUNDATION. Look them on line to get phone #'s. Talk with them. They have on-going lists for those willing to be a Living Donor

Hey, I'm 69, on PD dialysis. I wish you the best of luck finding a kidney! You will find support here (if not a kidney), so keep us posted on your journey.

Dear Lonhorn, Bassetmommer is right. All of us in this group are CKD patients. Zome in dyalisis, some trasplantes and many in need of a transplant. So, you vmcan learn a lot about the topic, but when are all in the same boat. I can share with you how I got my donor. I am now 50 years old Nd have been in the UNOS list for 4. I am A+, which is more common than yours. All my family is either abroad, or the one here could not donate. So, I talked at work, and asked at church. It wasn't working until I learned a better way to "ask". The National Kidney Foundation talks about "The Big Ask". Well, basically you ask indirectly. First you share your story with detIls on what, how and why you need a kidney. Then you share your transplant center information so thst interested people call them directly because you don't wsnt them to feel pressured by tellling you. Then, you wait for your "angel".

I did it through an article in my local newspaper. They interviewed me and my daughter. I had already prepared my story. I had my reasons for needing a kidney, I told them how I got to the point of needing a kidney, how it was affecting my daily life, how a transplant would transform mh life, and most importsntly, I shared my medical history Number at my transplant center and the number to call. Oh and I let them know my insurance paid for their testing. They didn't have to tell me anything if they didn't want. I had a couple of people call the transplant center and go through with testing. I aldo had at least one scammer trying to contact me, abd you have ro be aware of that! but at the end... one of the people who responded to the add, was a match and had talked to her family and will be donating me a kidney next month.

Ps. Once the article was published, I shared the online version in Facebook, through everyone I could think of in social media, and my friends dmshare it as well. The other lady who got tested was a coworker who had already retired. She said to me she haz read the article and thought about it, but when I shared rhe online article for her to re-share, she decided she had to try. Some people have t-shirts, and campaigns, you need a group that hepls you with that.

I hope this helps you direct your search better, and. PrY thT you can find your angel, too.
