Anyone done the DaVita Online Kidney School class?

I figured out how to sign up, and I figured out the time difference for my time zone.

However, being blonde, I can't figure out how I will magically be transported to the class LOL!!

Do I need Zoom? I don't have that and I don't have a SmartPhone.

I got a confirmation email saying to click on the enclosed link 15 min. before the class starts.

Is it like turning on a YouTube video, or what do I need to do, or should I cancel since I don't have a camera or microphone? I do have speakers for YouTube, whoo hoo, aren't I high tech?

That cat meme is the kind of thing that would be happening to me if I were living life as a cat, I feel like I'm 110 y/o and I need to ask a 3 y/o for technical advice. I wish I had a grandchild to ask LOL!!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. And remember to type slowly so I'll understand ROFL!!!!

Do you have a tablet computer? An iPad?

Zoom is actually software which you can download from the website. FaceTime will be on your iPad. Skype will be on your Windows laptop. Ok babes?🧐

YouTube just plays videos. It is not for video calls or teleconferencing. OK BABES?!

The website itself should help.🧐

I too do not have a smartphone but would advise a tablet computer. Love my iPad.

I think you’ve got to register first and choose a class via zip code🧐?

Thanks debsgm,

I don't have an iPad or Tablet either.

I am all registered and got confirmed. I actually called figuring they were closed for the day since it was 4:00pm in my timezone. But I had their time zone backward, big shocker.

The lady called and said it's earlier where I am not later so she switched me to an evening class so I don't have to get up and attend a 7:00 am class.

She emailed a link and said I can just use my PC and speakers and type in any questions. I think I can handle it. My autoimmune system is getting to my brain and my kidneysm I can't think clearly at all anymore.

Thank you so much for the reply.

Happy New Year!!!

I used to consider myself one of the rare breed of intelligent blondes, but not so much lately. Now I'm the epitome of the "dumb blonde" LOL

If you can believe this I was on time, had my notebook and a pen, BUT my speakers weren't working. some driver issue. OMG It's always something. I'll try to get the speaker working and try the next class. At least I signed in ok.

Oh stop! You are not a dumb blonde! This is all complicated. I guarantee that you will both enjoy the Davita Kidney Smart class and learn alot.

Took it prior to the pandemic and found it fantastic!

Reach out and give us your review!

Never a dull moment! Look at it this way, the investment time was inconvenient, but you'll enjoy the speakers down the line!

Thanks Chimama. I talked to someone on the phone finally and she sent me the webx link.

I had to show you this. It's pricey but so cute. I have the orange kitties from my Henry for Christmas (my friend did his shopping for him).

I thought of you the second I saw the Chihuahua. What color is your baby? Fawn, brown, or mix?

She’s a soft beautiful Fawn color about 7.5-8 pounds Lol but feels like 50 when she pokes her little toes in my scars!

To 🤔 I grew up terrified of dogs my dad carried me in the house if we visited anybody with a dog. I was cooped up in the house while my brat brothers played in the creek climbed trees grr

But when I was about 5 I was almost attacked by mom said about 5 dogs I was playing outside on a quilt and my daddy grabbed me up before they could get me . I Know one was a German Shepherd and I’m still terrified of that breed . Since then we’ve had so many dogs I can’t remember all of them 😳

This little girl is the best companion I’ve ever had . She’s very sensitive when I cry she cries and won’t budge from me. You know most Chihuahua are referred to as armpit pyrannas this one loves everybody. 😊

My mom had a fawn Chihuahua. They are such a pretty color. I was attacked by a German Shepherd and a Standard Poodle when I was about 5. I was very scared.

Now I'm like Dr. Doolittle. All animals love me. I feel like I'm blessed to have them like me. I think the big dogs sensed my fear when I was so small and scared. My family had a toy poodle at that time and I had my own kitty so I was never around big dogs before. My neighbor trained those dogs to be mean guard dogs.

Your baby is definitely bonded with you emotionally. My Henry is the same way.

You don't need a camera and microphone to go to a webinar. You just need them to show yourself and talk. There is usually a chat feature on webinar software so you can ask questions that way. If you have a laptop you probably do have a built in camera and mic. You also don't need to download the webinar software. Most have a join by browser feature. From what I remember, the Davita class is not interactive. They don't have the participants on camera or discussing via the microphone.

My friend built me a computer so it doesn't have camera or mic but it is free. He built me 2 so I'd have a backup to send him for repairs. I tried to get in on the web address they gave me to join, but wouldn't you know it, my speakers wouldn't work after my last Win10 update. Updates usually mess up my camera sync too.

I will get everything fixed and try the next time. Thanks.

I haven't taken a DaVita class yet, but found a webinar that sounded interesting, and they communicate well. It's on 1/13 @10am PT (I'm a West Coaster too) entitled "KidneyRD Webinar: 8 Opportunities to Preserve Kidney Function Class". Will see what it's like and decide if it's worth it if they offer other classes in the future. Will look for DaVita classes too. Good luck with your connections, speakers, and any other technology-related issues!

I hope Amazon delivers my speakers and I get organized for the next class. The other day I signed up 24 hours before the class started so I didn't even think of testing speakers. I usually leave them off.

The lady I spoke with at Davita who teaches a class and is in CA said they only have one class. No further classes, it's to give you info to keep your CKD from progressing.

I figured they had several different classes on various topics, but she said it's only the one topic.

Thanks for giving me the new schedule. I hope to be in that class.
