Hypercalciuria & nephrocalcinosis
I am sorry, I cannot answer your question but I have the same concern. I too have idiopathic hypercalciuria but do not know yet if I also have nephrocalcinosis. What test(s) diagnosed this for your daughter? I hope there is treatment and doctors will give you a good prognosis.
We had an echo and urine tests. And it came up that she had hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis. Thank you for your answer. How long do you know it? What do you do for your hypercalciuria? Are you on medication? I wish the best to you too
I had two 24 hr urine tests last year and they both showed high Ca. Doctors sait it was nothing... I requested to check the parathyroid hormone and that was fine. I also have kidney stones. Had an ultrasound in December but the result did not mention nephrocalcinosis. I will have another one in August/September and will see what that one says. That is why I asked what test showed the nephrocalcinosis for your daughter - I did not know if an ultrasound can show it and do not want to have a CT scan. In the meantime I have stopped taking vit D as I think I have been taking too much (4000 IU daily) and that can cause hypercalciuria and nephrocalcinosis. My doctor asked me how much I was taking but did not say anything, just gave me a funny look. I then had my level tested last month and since it was 145 I decided to stop it and rely on sun for the summer. I am just afraid that I might have taken too much for too long. So no, no medication. My doctors did not give me anything, not even advice, or a warning about vit D. What did doctors say for your daughter?
