Proteinuria

Hi Everyone,

A new member here. I would like to share my situations to see if there are any similarities with any of you. I am on medication for BP but no Diabetic.

My urine test had found a number of episodes with blood in urine starting back in 2012. My doctor requested a 24hr urine test and found mild protein in urine.

In May 2017, I had a urine test with negative protein but blood was still found. 3 months after that we repeated again but now we have protein in urine. The GP asked to do Ultrasound but it turned out all good except the left kidney; small amount of fluid seen in the left renal pelvis. Then we did not do anything,

In Feb 2022 I had a urine test again and now no blood found in the urine bud the protein found. eGFR 78, In urine: Creatine 29 mg/dL, random protein in urine 14 mg/dl. But the ratio between protein and creatine was off.

I will have another Ultrasound scheduled and will see a nephrologist.

Any suggestions to improve my health, diet, detox, exercise etc?

Your response would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum for Chronic Kidney Disease where we share information and give each other support. Here is a link to information on eGFR and age relationship. This might help you in discussion with your Doctor. kidney.org/atoz/content/gfr

Hi Bangginjal, Many of us with chronic kidney disease are told by our physicians to limit our daily protein intake to 0.6- 0.8 grams/kg/day (weight in kilograms). This is because that takes the stress of the kidneys. I have stage 3b and that is what my doctor recommended.

If you have high blood pressure, then your physician may want to limit your salt intake cause that can increase your blood pressure. But you would have to ask your physician. If you don't already, it might be a good idea to check your blood pressure in the morning and evening at home and write it down for your physician to review during visits.

Walking exercise is usually considered great for many health conditions as long as you don't have any limitations.

Diets that are more plant based, instead eating large amounts of meat, are considered more beneficial to prevent or slow down chronic kidney disease. Here is a link to learn more.

Welcome to the forum, I would suggest a full MRI be done on you, that will conclude many areas of question. Stay well. JH.
