Creatine Levels Vary

Hi, I was wondering if it is normal to have a creatine that bounces around from 0.7 to 0.9 and back to 0.8. I don't have any protein or blood in my urine. My urine is also consistently very clear or pale light yellow. Any guidance would be most helpful. I am still very scared that I might have CKD 1

First, please realize that those creatinine #'s are normal. Depending on your lab, most have normal range from 0.5 - 1.2. Creatinine can change by how much or how little you had to drink (water) before your labs were done. Also, stress can change the numbers - going to the gym the day before or did you have a protein rich meal the night before. Your kidneys have more problems when you eat a lot of protein. That's why CKD patients try to eat a low protein diet.

CKD is not diagnosed by creatinine alone and is done over time. Multiple urine tests, including a 24-hour urine test and blood tests showing eGFR, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, etc. Theses tests are repeated several times over 6- 12 months before a doctor could diagnose you with CKD. Do you have other symptoms? High Blood Pressure is usually one of the first signs.

If you are still concerned, talk with your doctor. But I am sure most would dismiss you, because creatinine of 0.9 is awesome!

I have talked to my doctor about it. He said it is within normal range and not worry about it. I do not have HBP. Thank you for your advice. I will just have to let this go and not worry about it.

Yes as was advised those levels are completely normal. Hydration, meals, exercise and more can vary the results. Normal levels are usually under 1.5. Most people with chronic kidney disease would be thrilled to have those levels and good function. BTW it is creatinine --not creatine Blessings
