Hi I'm new here guys. I've not been diagnosed with any kidney problems but I went for a renal ultrasound on friday. After the scan I asked the lady who did it was everything normal she reassured me nothing significant was found. I'm guess I'm still just worrying but if lady said nothing significant was found it got be positive isn't it x

Question on my renal kidney bladder ultrasound
Sounds positive to me 👍
Clinicians are not in the habit of lying, Sweetestflame. So, if she said all is well, then it is. Talk to your doctor who prescribed the test to go over the results with you until you understand it.
Techs aren't trained to interpret results that's why radiologists read them. My tech spoke out and said my arterial scan was fine, when in fact I have a blockage between my subclavian artery and my cerebellum and can't stand upright or remember stuff well. She had no right to dole out info when she had no idea what she is saying. I never gave EchoCardiogram or Treadmill results to my patients even though I had a rough idea of interpretation. It was above my pay grade and I'd have been fired for doing so. The Cardiologists read the tests, I performed them. Same with Ultra Sound techs. After the MD gave results then it was again my job to discuss exercise and diet with them or arrange surgeries. Everyone needs to stay in their lane so the patient gets the best most comprehensive proper care.
I don't know about the UK but here in US Clinicians do not give out results of tests.
That's likely to be good news. Most sonogram technicians give you a general statement about the overall findings. If it's serious, they'll urge you to see your doctor right away or bring in a doctor to double check the findings while you're there, etc. Check their body language. Bad news creates a stir. Been there, witnessed that. Anyway, that's my experience.
Techs aren't allowed to give results. She should have said the standard line of "your Dr. will call you when the radiologist reviews the scan".
She didn't see any stones, tumors or anything significant from her point of view. It could still be slightly enlarged or smaller than normal.
She shouldn't have told you that. But don't worry about it. You should get a copy of the radiology report via email from your health care provider in a few days if they email results as mine does. Otherwise, call by Wed or Thurs if you haven't heard. The office nurse can tell you if the results are normal, and the Dr. will call if they aren't.
Not to worry you, but the tech who did my arterial scan told me everything was fine and I didn't even ask. Turns out I have a blockage to my subclavian artery which feeds blood to the back of my brain and results in my falling and not remembering things. Not exactly "fine" as she said LOL If techs want to read results they should go to school to become radiologists. Even PCPs don't try to interpret scans, though they had some training in med school.
Best of luck. Patience is key after a test : )
The main point would be, why the test was ordered. What symptoms you are having. Is the Dr. suspecting stones or kidney disease? Are you symptomatic? What was s/he ruling out?
A kidney U/S isn't part of a routine exam.
Best of luck with everything, keep us posted.
