Mohs Surgery with Kidney Disease
Probably nothing different these are ge really done awake. If going under anesthesia then like a non kidney patient you will be giving fluids and the ansetiologist will pick the right type Oas sedation and adjust dosage as necessary. Ask the surgical dermatologist this question. They take thin layers of skin off at a time until the sample is clear of cancer cells.
I’m stage 3b and had Mohs surgery on my nose for basal cell carcinoma in March. I am also immune suppressed on Mycophenolate 1.5G/day ( I have IgA vasculitis).
I consulted with my nephrologist first for an OK and she said it was fine to go ahead. Nothing different was done—standard procedure.
It was local anesthesia, they had to take a couple of layers but no problems. Normal healing time was supposed to be 6 weeks, but mine took longer—more like 10-12 weeks due to the immunosuppressants—I heal slowly because of them.
Others may be different but that was my experience.
