Bubbly urine

Hi. I have a question for people who excrete heavy protein via urine. Does your urine look bubbly when standing up vs sitting on the toilet. Mine is bubbly when standing up but not bubbly when sitting down. I have a history of proteinuria so I am trying to figure this out since the doctor won’t further investigate it since I tested negative the last time for protein.

Yes but not having the bubbles when sitting is just to do with the physics of the pee hitting the toilet. If you stand and have a large collection of bubbles on the water that don't disperse after a few seconds then that's normally a sign of protein in your urine.

Please understand that "bubbles" in your urine can mean nothing at all. Or can be a sign of dehydration (even mild), protein intake, stress, exercise, some medications, CKD, or peeing fast. I would advise that you keep track of it. Drink plenty of liquids, no exercise and limit your protein and see if it makes a difference. You may solve the problem.

my little guy pees and he toms f bubbles. Bubbles can actually mean nothing or as people have said can be something. Your blood tests said no protein. It could be you have soft water or changes in your diet , exercise , water intake, etc, next time you pee, roll up a little toilet paper and toss it in. If you still see ton of bubbles than you may be right it could be protein or any other meds you are taking, if any. Your Dr should be able to help you if you have protein in your urine. I pee and sometimes many bubbles and sometimes zero bubbles. Every single test shows protein not measurable. Also, after you pee, throw in a little toilet paper and see if it dissipates ;-)

From my understanding, unless it is a 24 hr urine test, the protein might not be picked up.
