What can help with PBC itching? I've already tried all the over the counter meds and the 2 prescriptions the Dr gave me. Nothing is working and it is greatly affecting my ability to live normally, I cannot sleep, my skin is getting calloused, and I'm constantly exhausted. Any advice will help, Thank you so much

Hi and welcome to the community. Do you have CKD? If you do, please look at your blood labs and take note of your phosphorus levels. If the levels are too high it can be a cause of excessive itching. Cut back on the foods you eat with high phosphorus content and stay well hydrated and you should be able to get the itching under control. No prescription or OTC medications can alleviate the itching if you are consuming too much phosphorus.Best of luck.

Thanks for this information, Mr_Kidney. As a CKD patient, I hadn't known that too much phosphorous in the diet could cause itching. Good to know.

I am so sorry this is happening, Larrysgirl. I haven't had your experience but did have hives as a child and remember the constant misery. Just wondering if perhaps meditating might turn your thoughts inward enough for a bit to distract you from the mindboggling itching?

This may sound weird but once with a horrible absessed tooth and waiting days to get to the specialist, a friend suggested trying a bit of meditation and at least for some moments, it brought relief from the pain. Hope someone can suggest help for a remedy.

Hello i have CKD and itch a lot. I use E45 Cream everyday. Been using it for years. Definitely helps.

That usually means high phosphorus. Try eating less phosphorus (dairy, nuts, processed meats) and/or take a binder.
