Hi all. I have had a terrible night with pain on my left upper quadrant just on my bottom rib. It’s also in my back in the same place. Would this be related to ckd even at my early stage?

Is pain normal ckd 3?
I'm definitely not a doctor but I've had that kind of pain myself when I've had a "popped" rib out if place. Just a possibility.
A pulled muscle by the rib cage can also be mightly painful. A kidney infection as well, but you'd probably be running a temp with the infection. A kidney stone? Possibly, but I've not had one before but I know they are quite painful. If this has lasted more than 2 days, I'd go to your Immediate Care Center or
Urgent Care.
HI Winter,
That kind of pain is often the gallbladder or even pancreatitis. Were you nauseous or feverish? Neither of these are things to ignore. Make sure to have yours tested. Also take a look at what you are eating. Does it happen every night or just some nights? Kidneys at stage three normally do not cause pain, unless you have stones. An MRI or CT scan might be in order.Talk to your doctor.
Kidneys by themselves do not cause pain, unless you have an infection, a kidney stone or a blockage some where. At least that is what my nephrologist always tells me. Bassetmommer is right that it could be your gallbladder or pancreatitis. You need to call your doctor and get this checked out.
Before I had my transplant I had a case of pancreatitis due to a medication I was on. Labs and an ultrasound showed my pancreas was inflamed. I stopped the medication and with time it got better.
Recently I was having pain around my rib cage and had an enlarged and inflamed gallbladder. Had surgery to have it removed this summer.
I guess the point is for you to get to the doctor and find out what is going on.
Take care.
I can't speak to your pain issues. However, I did have sharp pains on my right side at the bottom and side of my rib cage and after an ultrasound, it was determined to be gallstones. I had my gallbladder removed last October and since then the pain has not returned. The only change I had to make post-surgery was to eliminate a couple of types of fish from my kidney-friendly meal plan due to their higher fat content.
Can you request an ultrasound to determine the cause of your pain? Best of luck.
Kidney stones definitely cause pain in that area. Also in the groin and it feels like period cramps. The first time it happened I went to an urgent care . Everything from shingles to whatever. A while later I ended up n an ambulance and found out it was a huge kidney stone stuck in my ureter. It knocked my heart into Afib and had to have defibrillation to get it back on track. after some other stuff they found a 9mm stone. The urologist called it a monster,,,he broke it up with a laser procedure and I spent a day or 2 in the hospital. That was the worst and I have passed several smaller ones since. My calcium level is a constant 10.3or higher.I am finally having parathyroid surgery in Nov. Find info on the web about that whole thing......
