sounds like great labs. It's creatinine BTW. Do you have concerns, symptoms?
My Microalbumin creatinine ratio is 165 mg/g and I am reading that is the beginning of kidney disease. My mother just passed away from kidney disease so I am very anxious and scared.
Yeah, if you are young still ...protein is no good. I wish I would have found out sooner.
any idea of what I could possibly do to slow it down? How fast does it usually progress? You said you wish you would have found out sooner. What would you have done? Thank you
Hi Shashava. Apparently low levels of albumin excretion (microalbuminuria) is often linked to the beginning of diabetic kidney disease - see link below. Perhaps diabetes runs in your family. Diabetes is nasty - it attacks the blood vessels throughout your body by using glucose to take out the eyes, heart, kidneys, etc. My hubby lost his kidneys to T2D. He chose to simply treat his situation medically and ignored his diet. But my hubby's mother, when she realized she was moving into diabetes, immediately changed her diet, lost weight, kept her kidneys, and lived well into her 80s. Two different people, two different choices, two different outcomes. The good news is that you paid attention to your labs and you're very motived to do something about it. So I suggest you ask your doctor if your lifestyle or history is leading to diabetes. If so, you have a golden opportunity to change your diet - eliminating sugar and carbs (which turn into sugar) - and living a long, quality life. I see a wonderful future ahead for you!

yes my mother was diabetic. I needed to lose weight so I looked into diets that were good for diabetes so that I could help her and lose weight myself. So I have been eating low carb for 4 years. My a1c is 5.6. I do have high blood pressure but that was good after I changed my diet. I did notice that it went up a lot while caring for my mom. That’s why I went to the dr. All my labs are good except for the micro album ratio. She started me on valsartan to help. So since I already eat mostly vegetables and salads I don’t see how much more I can cut out. I did cut out cheese since this test came back high. I’m so nervous because if I have done all this and I have kidney disease I don’t know what else I would be able to do.
I wouldn't worry at this point - simply keep an eye on your labs over a period of time. I suspect your numbers likely will stay stable for a long time, and perhaps improve here and there, since you're very proactive about your diet and doctor visits. You've reduced your blood pressure which is great! You've also brought your a1c's into the normal range. Creatinine and eGFR are good. I suspect your microalbumin will hover around where they are now and not get worse because of the steps you've taken. Furthermore, you have an amazing doctor who pays close attention to your labs, catching all the details. I predict a nice future for you.
I’m getting my more and more anxious by the day. I keep reading it can’t be stopped. I’d I’m already eating well what can I do. I’m thinking the worst. It’s just all so fresh with my mom’s passing. I’m also reading it’s possibly genetic. I just don’t know what to do. Can’t eat, sleep, etc
I don't think you have anything to worry about with all the steps you and your doctor have taken thus far. Sure, diabetes tends to run in families, but you have done a masterful job in keeping your A1c's in the good range and also your blood pressure. Please stay away from reports that say you can't turn around these type of situations. I can tell you that I personally know of several individuals who are living very long lives because they're careful about their diet, their blood pressure. etc. And some take medication, too, to keep their situations stable, which is fine. Of course, all our organs tend to gradually lose function as we age, and that is normal. Problems happen when people don't care and ignore matters and create issues that could have been prevented. You're not doing that at all, you're very proactive. So put away your worries, and reward yourself with a nice cup of tea and a good movie! Please don't suffer today for what likely will never happen tomorrow. I admire your courage and sense it will lead to good outcomes. Both you and our doctor are on top of everything. Please reach out anytime you feel troubled or overwhelmed - this community is here for you!
thank you and yes I agree diabetes can be controlled. Right now I am worried about my
Microalbumin creatinine ratio being 165 mg/G and entering the early stages of Ckd. All other labs are fine. Just a very stressful time and each day it is worse.
Please don't stress - some use meditation, exercise, therapy, volunteer activities and so on - anything that helps one reduce anxiety. If you find it unbearable, please bring this up with your doctor too. Please don't be embarrassed to do so, doctors have heard everything and can help you too. (I've done so in the past and it was very helpful.) You deserve to live a peaceful and fulfilling life.
thanks again
from my experience the creatinine looks good as does gfr. I believe gfr over 60 is good. BUN is really good. You cannot get much lower & mine is about 10-12. I was in single digits a few months ago. I don’t know much about microalbumin.
hi, I’m new here, does any one know if they was checking my urine I think micromalbuminun to creatine ratio after a blood test, & they said at reception or was normal, what does normal mean? The levels was normal? As well as no infection etc, thank you, awaiting second blood test results, im 41 & petrified x thank you
