Well I had to go back for emergency blood tests on Monday as my creatinine has shot up from 124 to 195.
All I keep hearing from the consultant which I have met 3 times is you need a biopsy doing. I asked if this major jump could be down to dehydration to which he said not a chance. So I upped my fluid uptake to 2-21/2 litres a day over the weekend to see if I was right. Well got my results yesterday and now down to 152.
Now every time I have seen this consultant he has mentioned kidney biopsy and it’s never been required. I don’t know why he seems set on this. But I’m kind of losing faith in this man however he is leaving in a few weeks and I will be passed to someone else again. I don’t know what to do for the best. I also have the BK virus which is causing things like this as well. Any advice greatly appreciated 💝

Not sure what BK virus is. The bottom line is you need to trust and believe in people who are providing your health care. Its your body.
There are other factors impacting CKD determination. So go over your lab results to see if you GFR is changing or if your blood levels ( hemoglobin, hemocrit and so forth) in anyway has declined.
Being sufficiently hydrated makes a big difference but you need to keep the practice up.
I would ask the consultant why he wants the biopsy. Does he suspect a mass or scaring or some reason to have it done?
I had a kidney transplant 16 months ago. My consultant that I had for years was amazing he never sugar coated anything and was always honest. He left his position in March. This guy I have now I have met 3 times and every time he has gone in about doing a biopsy. There is no need to do one but that’s all he goes on about. He is leaving soon as well. And everything is just up in the air. Just feeling a lack of confidence with everything at the moment.
I had several kidney biopsies the first couple of years after my transplant when my creatinine would go up 3 points, like 1.0 to 1.3. The reason for the biopsy to see if you are rejecting your kidney. If you are, they can do something about when it's in the early stages. All 3 of my biopsies were negative for rejection, but was a relief to know that all was well with my new kidney. I am now 19+ years post transplant and doing very well.
I understand that the biopsy is to check for rejection. What I don’t understand is every time there is a little blip in my bloods he automatically starts throwing round the biopsy card!!! If my bloods had a dramatic change I would fully understand but it can be over the silliest thing and it is not fair to keep throwing it in my face.
