blood test

The results are in. I don’t know what to think of this months appointment and I’m confused and anxious but also a bit relived that it’s over. My husbands GFR was at 39 today, which has been the pretty steady number we’ve been trending towards. He had an Albumin/creatine urine test and the results were outrageously high 1774mg. His protein has also jumped from 30mg to 100mg this time. I am scared. The doctor said it could have been from diet or something he ate?Has anyone experienced something like this. I am so scared . Doctor says he will go in 6 weeks and do a repeat test. I am fearful I don’t know what this means. Doctor said that medication may need to be changed or a steroid added? My husband has IGA neuropathy. Any positivity is welcomed please.

Maybe await repeat test results re short-term effects indicated etc then post them on here in case someone with IGA neuropathy can comment (not diagnose) based on experience.

I’m not a doctor. I believe you meant IgA Nephropathy that your husband was diagnosed with? That is an autoimmune disease which causes inflammation in the kidneys. IgA nephropathy is a leading cause of CKD. Please see a nephrologists.

Yes! I agree with you. It seems to be a flare. I would seek help from a nephrologist and seek meds for it immediately if it's that. No reason to let it go on.

Results could be lab error or he could have been dehydrated. I have had both happen to me, raising my creatinine. I am sure that is why the doctor is repeating the labs in 6 weeks. In the meantime, make sure he stays hydrated.

Is he eating a lot of red meat? For me working on my diet has helped tremendously. There are some great videos on you tube and groups on facebook that my help.
