Questions on Blood tests

I just my last round of blood tests back. Thankfully, my GFR held steady at 15 again, have dropped to 11 earlier this spring.

As part of this round of tests, my doctor ordered a number of iron&related bloodwork. Results as follows (normal ranges in parentheses):

Iron - 30 (65-175 mcg/dL

Ferritin- 205.4 (26-388 ng/l)

Transferrin - 239 - (200-366 mg/dL)

TBIC - 356 (250-400 mcg/dL

% saturation - 8% (15-50%)

I have no prior tests as a baseline. What I have read is that given that everything other than iron and % saturation are normal, this would not be considered an oron deficiency as the iron stores in my blood are OK. This is just another indication of chronic disease/ESRD.

My appointment is next Monday, but I thought I would reach out to hear your experiences/ understanding.
