Have you notified your doctor of your symptoms? It sounds like your doctor put you on the renal diet, which is a wonderful diet that can help the kidneys tremendously! However, due to how restrictive it is, introducing the different restrictions gradually will help your body get used to it without causing sudden nutritional shortages that your body is used to. CKD symptoms are variable from person to person, and unfortunately can be mistaken as more common issues. Your symptoms could very well be a sign of stress, which could stem from CKD, or something else. Your best course of action would be to speak with an advice nurse, nephrologist or your primary care physician to get labs done and have it checked out. I wish you the best! Good luck.

Anyone on a restricted potassium and sodium diet with those symptoms needs to get them checked immediately.

If electrolytes are off it's far better to be safe than sorry.

Anyone with a new symptom of shortness of breath by itself should also be seen immediately.

Sorry, I was a respiratory therapist and I have seen far too many people get into serious health problems by not getting things checked immediately.

I wish doctors were more thorough in telling their patients what to watch out for.

Hi Trinilady,

You said you were showing signs of CKD...did they tell you what stage you are at?

The symptoms you said could be many things, but the shortness of breath and heart palpitations are not something to mess with. I am not diagnosing here, but those COULD be a sign of low potassium. healthline.com/nutrition/po... or low hematocrit or anemia. medicinenet.com/anemia/arti... This is why you need to talk to your doctor.

It would be good for you to learn more about managing CKD and understanding you labs and what they mean. Just "showing signs of CKD" does not really give you any direction of what to do. Knowing your levels will help guide you to a better diet and help your kidneys.

Please ask your doctor to check your levels again. Also look at the

Go to the emergency room immediately. Although you are probably fine those symptoms must be checked out ASAP. If anything is wrong they would be able to start treatment right away.

I don't want to scare you but I was a respiratory therapist and those symtoms shouldn't go unchecked particularly if your're restricting potassium and sodium.

Your electrolytes may be off. It can be easily be corrected but it can also cause bigger problems.
