for 23 years i struggled with my labs. Always had low calcium, high phosphorous. A few months ago i started fasting. I eat between 2pm and 10pm. Since then i got my first lab test with all good numbers.

HI Peterpeter,
Good for you. I am not sure if fasting has anything to do with your improvement but more so what you are eating and how much. I too only eat between 11am and 7pm; eight hours like you. But it is what I am eating that counts.
Congratulations.
I'm curious - are you vegetarian or vegan? I've read books that say the TYPE (vegetable vs. animal) of protein matters more than the AMOUNT of protein. However, I've also talked to nephrologists and dietician who say the amount of protein is what matters when you get to stage 4/5.
HI Steve,
I do not classify myself as anything actually. I do eat once in a while chicken, mostly like in my home made soups, and very once in a while some white fish or shrimp. Mostly I get my protein from cheeses, eggs and mostly egg whites, and in the vegetables I eat. I do not eat bean or lentils because of the phosphorous and potassium. I have an issue with both and was taken a potassium binder but ended up with more issues because of it, so I stopped. I do treat myself to a treat of bacon(uncured) or a chicken sausage, but not very often. I stopped eating red meat in 1986, long before my CKD presented.
I had high phosphorus too. I found two things that worked for me: 1) avoid high phosphorus foods (beans, nuts, dairy, beer, cola) 2) take phosphate binders.
Congratulations on your lab results!! I know exciting it is when they change for the better. Prayers for you! God can do anything 😀
Congrats on the great numbers! 😊👍
hi Peterpeters, WOW, great labs, what are you eating between 2pm and 10pm? are you drinking any liquid while fasting? i will try the fasting, i stopped dialysis after 9 or 10 treatments and am winging it on my own, so i will try this fasting, thank you and good luck, sounds like you're on to something!
