I'm 35 and over the last year my egfr has dropped 26 points. My creatine ect are normal but the egfr keeps dropping. Im wondering about autoimmune disorders or other explanation.
Low EGFR: I'm 35 and over the last year my... - Kidney Disease
Low EGFR
It has dropped to 54 and overall it has actually dropped more then 26 because it had gone up to 67 on December 31 and December 7th it had dropped to 54
There are many factors in determining a diagnosis, which we can not do here. Please, talk to you doctor about this. It could be many factors including just being dehydrated when you do the lab. But you need the doctor to evaluate the whole picture.
Thats interesting because the person drawing my blood said I was dehydrated when she drew my blood. She couldn't find my vein. I drink water during day, but have to stop at 6 pm or I'm up all night going. The test was early in the morning.
You really need to talk with your doctor about all of this. First, remember eGFR is only an estimate of how well your kidneys are filtering. Dehydration really affects the numbers. If you have CKD it would have to be confirmed with further blood tests and urine repeated several times.
Other factors effect the eGFR including other diseases like diabetes, weight gain and loss, and changes in exercise patterns. I would ask my doctor about these changes and repeat the test.
I've had 7 test over the last year and the GFR has steadily declined. I'm not diabetic. I am overweight and have hypothyroid. I've had a complete hysterectomy, gallbladder, appendectomy.
If you are on medication or painkillers for your health issues, it is possible they might be causing the decline.
I was on Ibuprofen at night for cronic pain but I stopped it when all this started and it dropped 13 points. I'm at a loss. Waiting on nephrologist appointment 😪
I am new to this.....but I always thought egfr was figured due to creatinine level......if that is normal....how is egfr figured low???
