I have ckd stage 3a. I am on a renal diet and exercise to slow down the progression but exercise causes pain. Is it safe to use cbd oil?
Here is a link to some information , but this is the most important part of the article:
"CBD is also known to interact with several medications. Before you start using CBD oil, discuss it with your doctor to ensure your safety and avoid potentially harmful interactions"

So check with your doctor. I too am curious about this question and I am going to ask my doctor.
You should discuss any medications with your nephrologist or PCP. Unfortunately there are no medical doctors who monitor this forum; this is more of a "support group".
I am 78 so dont exercise as recommended. I just dont get into it BUt i do walk back and forth thru the house for a half hout almost every morning immediately after i get up and bathroom.
Start at a few minutes ... as much as you can tolerate. Maybe twice a day ? S-l-o-wly do a little more over the weeks and months. It took me years to get to half hour but i think its also doing it regularly thats important too.
Always, always check with your nephrologist before taking anything. You never know how it will interact with any medications you are taking. You could be hurting your kidneys more by taking this.
Thanks all. I decided to try hemp infused lotion on the pain areas. And it seems to be helping. It has natural anti inflammatory properties and since we can't take nsaids I'm thinking this is a good start. I'll ask my nephrologist at my next appt. about ingesting cbd oil. It does kinda scare me.
I am licensed to use medical marijuana, but the pills gave me hives... the vape makes me choke and the oil under the tongue didn't stop my pain. (I just had spinal surgery and now have two more bulging discs). Exercise is nearly impossible. What other forms does CBD come in? I didn't know about the cream. I need something and all the pain meds prescribed for me caused me either hives or RLS x 10.
I went to my local health food store and they had a shelf of cbd and hemp products. I chose cream so I could target my body parts that are in pain. It helped a little but I was not able to exercise but I was able to walk. It was suggested to try Charlotte's Web products which is what I did. You can try the cream but it cost $49.99 for 2.5 oz. for 750 mg and you can buy it online. I've only used it 2 days so maybe it will help better as I use it. It's no miracle cure and it may not help your pain. I think I'm going to try acupuncture, deep tissue massage and a numbing shot if I can. Good luck!
Since my pain is in my spine...I'd not be able to apply it.
Since I had to stop using Naproxen (NSAID) for arthritis pain the rheumatologist prescribed a cream (Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel) to apply to joints that hurt. It requires a prescription. It helps the joint pain and the Nephrologist approved me using it. It is very important to always ask the Nephrologist.
Cat mommy I am 11 months post transplant and I know my situation is different to yours. But I started using CBD oil as a vape liquid about 6 months ago and I told my Renal consultant who was quite intrigued as to wether it worked as a good pain relief to which my reply was yes. He was impressed I had removed drugs like OxyContin from my system to hopefully keep my transplant going longer. I think if you tell your team you want to try it they would probably back you 100% coz it’s less impurities for your kidney to try clear out of your blood. I say definitely ask as I will never look back now. Good luck hunny 😉. Please keep me informed x
