Is there anyone who would be willing to share some of their favorite recipes from DaVita? No need to post the entire recipe, just the title would be helpful. I do try to follow the diabetic diet but most recipes can be adjusted. Thanks!!

I use DaVita only for the basic idea and then make the changes to fit my current needs based on my labs and tastes. At this point, I've tried almost all of the summer salads and made changes based on my needs and tastes and I'm not sure anyone could recognize the recipe anymore. I've even changed the fruit like in the Pineapple Chicken to Apple Chicken. One I can share came from a member of this community, so you may get it twice. It was suggested that I use pureed roasted red pepper in place of tomato sauce for a small pizza. I use brie to get past the cheese restriction. Turns out it's a keeper that helped me get past the pizza craving.
There's no "cheese restriction" that I'm aware of. However, cheese is one of the more unhealthy foods to eat in general, so it's something that can only be eaten in small amounts by someone with CKD. Did you mean phosphorus restriction? Sodium restriction? Protein restriction? Saturated fat restriction?
I'll be sure to let my RD and nephrologist know that there is no "cheese restriction." Whatever were they thinking? Since you haven't seen my medical records, let's just assume I know what I'm talking about.
I asked a serious question and you responded sarcastically. I haven't seen your labs and I don't want to, I just asked what specifically about cheese you were restricting. It wasn't that important, but I never assume someone knows what they're talking about. Later...
As with most people here, if I don't share something it's because I don't want the information "out there." If you can't take someone's word on a comment then perhaps you should reconsider.
Everyone is different as to dietary restrictions and limitations.
What one person may eat, many not be healthy for another.
As you know, if labs are good- potassium, sodium, phosphorous then foods like cheeses can be eaten in moderation. I eat low sodium low milk fat cottage cheese. When in doubt, ask a dietician, which is what I am hearing.
The key is to eat healthy and certain foods in moderation.
We are all in this together!

Bet117. That is true, that not everyone will have same restrictions on renal diet. example, I was initially only restricted on sodium and phosphorus and then my blood work showed had high potassium, so now potassium restricted and got new diet. Other blood numbers might restrict other foods. Many factors are involved.
My favorite recipes so far are: potato salad, egg salad, bowtie pasta, alfredo sauce, ranch dressing, deviled green beans, apple pork chops and stuffing, crispy tortilla pizza , beef barley and vegetable stew (left out the beef and put cabbage in), parmesan chicken and I made the bagel bread pudding once it was very good but would be very in frequent. I do get other recipes from other sites and enter them in the diet helper. It is a struggle for sure. Hope you find some recipes that will help your journey.
Lgriffs,
Where did you get the barley and vegetable stew recipe with cabbage? It sounds divine! We eat alot of cabbage in our house.
Thanks!

Hi Bet, The recipes all came from Davita.com. Beef and Barley vegetable stew. I left out the beef and put in the cabbage. I used half low sodium beef broth and half water and also added a little Worcestershire. Some of the recipes turn out very bland so i read the comments below the recipe to tweak it for hopefully a better result.
