Hi,

Back in the fall of 2015, I was placed on Lisinopril and about 2 weeks later I had a major issue with an extremely high BP and a very high potassium count. I spent about 10 hours in an ER while I was traveling. They got the BP down, stopped the Lisinopril and got the potassium down, and after being assured I was stable they sent me on my way with instructions to see a local physician within 10 days. I did and he put me on 10 mg of Amlodipine and I've been on that since, with excellent success.

However, each of us is different. There are folks here who have said they are successfully taking Lisinopril. All you can do is follow the physician's instructions, take the Amlodipine at the same time each day and try not to miss a dosage. If you see a slight change for the better you could ask to be increased to 10 mg which I believe is the max dosage.

Not knowing any other health issues you have or medications you are taking, you might like to go to drugs.com and look up Amlodipine and see if you are likely to run into any other reactions depending on the medications you are taking. Hope that helps.

I take Amlodipine. It's been good for me too. Although I take a handful of other medications as well for blood pressure. So far so good 🙂

I had a similar reaction to Lisinopril and my Nephrologist even lists it in the "allergies" section of his Office Visit Summary (strange. I wasn't allergic to it; it just did work to lower my BP). I have been on and off Amlodopine (either 5 mg or 10 mg/day) since. The Neph has even taken me off Amlodopine if my BP continually stays in a good range.

My neph always says "No salt, no salt, no salt" every time I leave his office.

I haven't had any probs with Amlodopine. I hope this helps!
