I am at 16 % and continue with a whole regimen of drugs for bipolar disorder which includes abilify. My nephrologist does not intend to stop them as I need the medication to function properly. I am guessing it depends on your situation. You should really discuss it with your nephrologist.

Definitely talk with your nephrologist. Some medications are processed through the liver and do not affect the kidneys and vice versa. If your nephrologist has not expressed a concern with it, then it's probably alright since some medications are needed regardless of its affects on renal function, but ask anyways.

As Frankie24 has said, it depends on the situation. I was temporarily taken off of a medication for my migraines since it affected my kidney so much. Now that I'm on dialysis, they're looking into putting it back into my regimen since my kidney is at 10% and not functioning hardly anyways and the dialysis can affectively flush out the medication from my system when needed.

Good luck!
