New to this

I have just been diagnosed with stage 3 CKD with a a GFR of 44. I am seeing a nephrologist. I also have COPD, asthma, a fib, mitral valve prolapse, sleep apnea, late onset bipolar and anxiety. I had a fungal lung infection a couple years ago which I took strong anti fungal meds to get rid of. It took a year. I had 3 different types of mold growing in my lungs. I am only 59 and feel like I am falling apart. I am still trying to get my head around the CKD. My dr told me I could stay at stage 3 the rest of my life and she is going to monitor me on a semiannual basis. My creatine is 1.25 which is average over a 10 year period after we looked at it. My BUN sis an average of 25 over the same period. I am too the point that I don’t know which ailment is making feel like crap. Anyone with any words good

Hi, been living with Bipolar Disorder & panic/anxiety my whole life, at age 40 found right combo of meds. so I am stable, but I think the meds. cause a lot of fatigue. I am also diagnosed with PKD, stage 4, GFR 20, creatinine 3.0, bun 50. I have fibromyalgia, have had two knee replacements, have severe osteoarthritis, had two cardiac ablasion's this past year to get rid of irregular heart rhythms. I also have A-fib which I take eliquis for. I know it is difficult, but I have learned to get my mind off things, and keep busy, despite the fatigue. I rest when I need to, however I work full time and do volunteer work. I actually feel better when I keep busy & don't think about what ails me. Wishing you the best.

More power to you! My son has IGA Nephropathy stage 3b. We learned about it three years back. After the initial shock, we tried to focus on diet, exercise and being proactive about the medications that were prescribed for high blood pressure. This has helped him improve from stage 4 to 3b. He has a demanding full time job that he really enjoys and that has been a major plus too. Keeping busy and as far as possible staying positive is indeed a way forward.

Thanks. I try to stay busy but can get very tired at times. It makes me feel lazy when I have to stop and rest. I finally think I have the right drug combo too. Seems like it took forever. Hope you are doing well

You need to get over the guilt, honestly, that was my worst enemy, once I stopped feeling bad & telling myself I was lazy about being tired all the time things improved dramatically. I mean I am still tired all the time, but remember, you are taking medication's that cause fatigue and dealing with a number of health issues and age does not help, I am 57, but truly try to keep active and be kind to yourself !

Thanks! My prayers are for you as they are for my son! Btw he has also been doing a hip bath which he finds relaxing. He does this twice a week. I shared it sometime back. The hip bath claims to improve kidney function. I am not sure of that but it is certainly relaxing for him!
