So disappointed with myself :(

Out for dinner tonight, not sure where my man is taking me on a surprise date... The thought of not having control over where we are going has led to me binging on biscuits whilst sat at my desk. I don't even really like biscuits :(

Hopefully I can rectify some of the damage before weigh in on Saturday

Hey there,

First of all, don't beat yourself up too much. Lots of

emotions can trigger emotional eating, including stress, apprehension and helplessness. I know what you're going through regarding the restaurant worry. Some restaurants have the calorie contents of their meals on the menu (or on the website). Failing that, try to make healthier choices - lots of veg, grilled, baked or steamed meat or fish and, if possible, get the sauce on the side. And even if you do decide to "treat yourself", dont feel bad... It's one of many, many more you'll have in the future where you DO have control. It's a special night with your boyfriend - try and put the worry aside, do as best as you can and enjoy your evening :)

If you've not been calorie counting long, it's definitely tempting to think its "all or nothing". But don't worry - its all about the long term, becoming more aware of your habits and learning to eat healthier in general. You seem like you're on the right track - best of luck and have fun tonight! :) x

Thank you. I just need to get my head in the right place! It's not often he surprises me so want to enjoy it!

I will let you know what I choose :)

Thanks again x

Yep - good advice - life is for living. Enjoy your evening and get back on track tomorrow. I have been for a very lovely farewell three course lunch today - just enjoyed it and back on track tomorrow - controlled enjoyment(yikes I hope). I will avoid scales tomorrow morning and eat like a mouse over the next few days!

Hi llb25,

Well, you know, if you fall down seven times .... oh, yes, you do know that!

There are various strategies for helping with meals out in restaurants and similar situations, e.g. share a dessert, have a starter for a main course, avoid rich creamy sauces (go for the tomato-based ones instead), just to mention a few.

But, if you find you've overdone it - though that might be from the biscuits rather than the dinner from the sounds of things - then just try to 'pay back the account' over the next day or two.

Good luck and hope the dinner goes well.

Thank you all. Actually dinner wasn't too bad at all, in fact it was amazing. A six course taster menu at a Michelin starred restaurant! food was divine and due to it being a taster menu and Michelin starred the portions were tiny. Feeling okay today, I have a plan in place which will include a little run tonight.

Great advice thanks Doikosp I couldn't remember if I had read that I could adjust accordingly.

Suzybenj - good luck :)
