Hi Jonboy, I hope you find the confidence/motivation/whatever to make a start. I think you should check your BMI (available on this site) to work out your daily calories, then plan some meals around this calorie allowance. Choose things that you like and that are easy for you to prepare - I think you'll have most success and feel least daunted if you keep it simple at first. Don't worry about the lack of exercise - I lost alot of weight by calorie restriction alone during a time when I was unable to exercise so it's very achievable. Just take it in small steps, don't let yourself get too hungry, and you can do it! Very good luck to you. (It's really exciting when you see/feel it working - give it a go!) x

Hello and welcome, Jonboy7171 🙂

This is a great place for support and information so I suggest you do some exploring, see how others are tackling weight loss and then make your own plans.

A good place to start is by joining a weekly weigh in on the day of your choice, and using the Daily Diary, where members post their meal plans for the day. You'll find them, and our Welcome Newbies post, in Pinned Posts.

I hope you'll become an active member of the forum and we'll see you around ☺️

I have heart failure also. It's not exercise that will lose the weight, it's carb restriction.

Can't go into much detail here but google keto and go from there. Basically you need to cut bread, potatoes, rice, cakes etc etc. Not easy but it does work.

Hello and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum.

I see that you have been advocating a low carbohydrate diet for a while on HealthUnlocked, and you will find that there are people on the Weight Loss Forum who have found that this works very successfully for them too, and I am sure we would all appreciate hearing more about how it has worked for you.

I would like to award you a badge to show that you belong to this Forum, and it would help me to know whether you are still losing weight, or have successfully lost weight and are now maintaining so that I know which badge to let you have.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I was replying to jonboy as he has heart failure and can't exercise. I too have heart failure so , with respect, it's not a badge that I need.
