Coffee using lchf

Hello again,

So I’ve cut back on anything with sugar and for lunch and dinner i’ve been having a plate of mixed salade some tomatoe a spoon of mayo or olive oil(for the fat) and then a portion of either fish/chicken or like yesterday omelette(no oil to fry) and it’s been going ok.

Been taking virtual fitness classes at the gym which makes it fun and also teaches how to train, and i’m feeling great.

Anyway my questions is i have a weekness for good tasting coffe and at work (where im currently at) I enjoy a nice sugary coffee ex. Nescafe caramel ready to stir pouches.

I stick to one cup of this coffee a day, but using the lchf method. Would this affect my diet alot ? It says it’s 70kcals per cup and 9,3g which of sugars.

Thanks in advance for your replies and insights :)

Have you tried a good coffee with double cream, Diianna93? Perfectly low carb and the cream makes it taste sweet enough to not need sugar. 9.3g sugar, is almost 2.5 tsps.

I'm sure using the pod wouldn't upset the apple cart too much, but if you're working hard to reduce sugar elsewhere, wouldn't it make more sense to lose an easy 2.5 tsps of it?

Just another point, I wonder why you don't use oil to fry with? The literal translation of LCHF is Low Carb High Fat, so there's no need to skimp on the fat content of your meal. You may even find that increasing the fat will reduce your need for the sweet coffee :)

Thanks i’d never tried cream with coffee considering i don’t really like the taste of milk too much (at least on its own, its ok in like latte’s and cappuccino’s xD)

Anyway i tried it to reduce my sugar intake and i quite liked it! And I couldn’t stand the taste of coffee without sugar :) so thanks for your insight :)

Abou the frying oil, i do always include a spoon of mayo or butter for the fatty part ( today I melted butter and fried salmon in it)

But i just thought with the egg i could skip it has i out dressing on my Salad ^^

Guess i’m still figuring out the right quantities for the lchf diet i was scared to over do it xD

I'm glad you enjoyed the cream and please don't worry about using fat, your body will instinctively know when it's had enough :)

Heating cream and milk releases sugars so hot milk makes coffee taste sweeter, but you are ingesting the same amount of sugar for a sweeter taste.

Cream is better for you than milk, as cream is "pure fat" and contains no sugar (milk contains lactose).

Oh so does the heating thing not work with cream??
