Thinking about signing up for Alevere therapy. Any views greatly appreciated. I can't find anything about long term success rates. Is it worth the expense?
Alevere Therapy: Thinking about signing... - Weight Loss Support
Alevere Therapy
What is it ??
😇
Never heard of it!
It's a VLCD to start off with you are given sachets with all nutrients and calories you need. You also have weekly ultrasound to tighten your skin which will be a bit loose. There w/s is full of success stories of people who have lost 4-5 stone in under 6 mths. It's done under the supervision of a Dr but it costs approx £800- £1000 a month. They also state that they provide maintenance support after you have reached goal but not clear what this is or the costs.
Am not sure how this will help develop healthy habits and cannot find any info about how successful it is in the longer term.
Btw am not advertising this. I feel that I am at the end of the line (so to speak) and need something drastic although my head keeps telling me that it isn't the answer and isn't a replacement for healthy eating and regular exercise
I think your head is very sensible 😊 The first step is creating a healthier relationship with food, do some long hard thinking about why you overeat and try to find your triggers, hunger/emotion/other deeper psychological reason. THEN you will be able to research a healthier way of eating that suits you and your lifestyle long term 😊 I never ever thought I would be able to stick to a plan for over a year, and if I can do it anyone can 😊 No miracles, no rapid loss, but I felt better within a few weeks, had lost 10% of my body weight in 4 months and this is proven to make significant improvements to health 😊
If it is making you so unhappy maybe visit your GP or practice nurse and see if they can offer any help? Or even refer you to a dietician? Especially if the weight is causing you other health issues, physical or emotional 😕
I hope you find the answers you are seeking, very best wishes 😊
VLC diets can only be done for a short amount of time because of the stress they put on your body. If you have any health issues they can be a very bad idea. I can't find much about this diet on the net, although this article is interesting.

I'm sorry to read that you are at the end of the line. Have you looked at any of the ideas from Michael Mosley? There is The 5:2 diet or The Blood Sugar diet, which can work very well, if you can stick to them. Both encourage a more healthy relationship with food and won't cost you a small fortune.
In the end it's down to what you will make work. Good luck with whatever you decide.
