I admit that I didn't manage any runs last week, but it wasn't a great week for me - however, I am feeling more positive now, and I really hope to get back to running regularly again, and I will do my best to do 3 runs this week.
Good luck to everyone! We can do this!!!
Lowcal
Week 5, run 1, all done and dusted
I managed 5K in 44.22 mins = 8.84 average. Still not very speedy, but I'm getting there
Good luck with your runs everyone, whatever stage you're at
Hi Moreless,
Wow, that's great, well done on doing your 5 km run in 44.22 mins - 8.84 - what a great average! Really good! You're developing your very own PB - which I now know means 'personal best' - I say that because I thought it meant something entirely different the first time I heard someone say it...!
I am about to write about my run, which I've just done.
Good luck with your second run.
Lowcal
Thanks Lowcal!
I'm laughing my head off now! You didn't look in the urban dictionary did you??!!
Gosh, we're almost professionals now, knowing the lingo!
Hi Gareth and everyone,
I have just done my 1st run of Week 5 - I've completely missed runs in week 4, but I'm not letting that put me off - I am purely trying to run 3 times a week, and cover approx 5km a run - and I have just done my 1st run of this week - in the lovely sunshine, and it was really good!
I wasn't feeling like it, but I was reading a post by kantara71 in the Monday weigh-in thread, and he mentioned giving himself 'a good talking to' and I decided that I would do the same while doing my run - and so I got out there and did it, and I've returned feeling suitably galvanised into action and more hopeful for the week ahead.
I was also feeling very guilty about calling myself a 'lardy tortoise' this morning, which Moreless picked me up on - Thank you Moreless - I felt bad about that but I think it stems back to a tendency to be excessively hard on myself if I feel I don't achieve what I hope to achieve, and somehow catastrophic thinking comes out strongly, and I think it can be easy to do that to ourselves, but we'd never dream of treating our friends and others that way - so why do that to ourselves. So I am feeling bad about that, now, and I am definitely going to try to be kinder to myself as the week progresses. So I had a harder week - it wasn't the end of the world, and I can move forward. There's lots of things in life to be thankful for, and running certainly helps to focus the mind and re-stabilise.
That's a long preamble, but it was a great run.
I hope everyone has a great first run this week - good luck everyone in this Challenge.
I'd say if you're reading this and fancy joining us, I would say you're very welcome to run alongside us! We like the company on this journey!
Lowcal
Oh Lowcal, I'm delighted that you got out for a run and I'm delighted that you've decided to treat yourself kinder. Good grief woman, if you were as nice to yourself as you are to everyone else, I bet you'd have been sitting on the maintainers bench for months by now!
I wholeheartedly agree with you about enjoying company here. We definitely do! Please come and join us!
Done a 30 min run this morning. Same tomorrow morning and a longer one Friday before work. Thev30 minutes are about 2.5 miles. I feel so good after it. Struggle to get out the door though!
I completed my second run this morning and decided to do it on the undulating terrain of my home turf. It was tough, but I managed to do it in exactly the same time as monday's levelish run! I'm really pleased!
I can't believe that just 5 short weeks ago, I really struggled with those 60 second runs and avoided doing them on any uphill bits!
Thanks so much Gareth and all, I couldn't have done this without your support and encouragement
Good luck everyone with your runs. Remember, if you believe you can do it, then you will do it
I just want to say WELL DONE to all of you. I'm so impressed. some of you are running 4 and 5k and much more than week 5 of C25K requires!
I did the C25K programme before I started dieting and I'm pretty sure that it helps me a lot in the weight loss process. Not only does it burn calories, it builds muscle and it helps me feel healthy and good about myself - it is impossible for me to be critical of myself after having been out on a run. I am just so, so proud of myself - every time.
So keep going slow and steady, fellow losers, you are building a healthy habit for life.
