Disappointed in myself.

I'm always really tough on myself. I was starting couch to 5k tonight while football training. I had my gear on my headphones ready the app all fired up. Started walking round the field with my friend who I had just that second roped in. It was time to run and I turned the app off. I just couldn't do it. I have been good with food. I'm angry at myself for being a wimp scared of other people watching me. How silly.

:-) don't worry - it does take a bit of nerve:-) - maybe a less public place next time- I think it is only 8 short runs- keep them slow. Plan to do it when you can devote yourself to you:-)

Do give it another go - you will be pleased when you have and it will give you confidence to to do the second run:-)

Good luck

Hi kaydenmummy 😀 so glad that you nearly gave it a go. I've only done one run so far as my ankles are still aching but really enjoyed it so will definitely run again soon.

Make sure you warm up and cool down by stretching not just warm up and cool down walk as stated 🏃

It's lovely that your friend was going to support you. Maybe she could join you early morning or evening when less people are about. I was planning on having my dog as company but he's too much of a sniffer 😂

Good luck your half way there.

Good idea at least you can go at your own pace .... it's not a race even if you walk most of it (like I did the last part) you are still moving and it all helps 😀

If you take the time to walk the distance you were planning to run, it uses much the same kcal. And running isn't great for everyone. My knees aren't good enough, for instance. I have been told not to. And every one of my brothers has had a cartilege opp. All because of running or similarly active sports. Humans are designed for walking. Not all of us are designed for running.

Hi Kaydenmummy,

There's definitely tomorrow, and so just go for it then - it is tough when people are around, I felt a bit silly running outside a couple of times - but people are encouraging rather than anything else, so don't let them put you off. You can do it, and good luck for tomorrow!

Lowcal :-)

As others have said, simply walking for the first week would do the world of good. After that you can repeat the week and jog (don't 'run', slower the better is absolutely key) if you want to.

But again, you did it! OK, there are lessons you have learnt (preferring privacy etc.) but please don't underestimate the victory of actually getting everything together and giving it a try! Not only that but you are going to try again - sincerely, well done.

(If you search for 'I wish I knew' in c25k you will find a bunch of useful posts. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...... is mine, but the wisdom is others ;-))

Maybe go out when fewer people are around and on your own. I am definitely a lone runner. The first step is the worst. Loads of you started today and are really enjoying it.

Oh Kaydenmummy, I know exactly how you feel. I couldn't possibly have done it with an audience! I live in the middle of nowhere, but still do my runs at 4am to make sure that even the birds aren't witness to my red-faced, huffing and puffing and blancmange body jiggling! ;)

Early mornings are wonderful, try it and see. I intend going out at 4am tomorrow, why don't you join me and we can compare notes afterwards? :)

4am? 4am? That's very early moreless , I thought I was bad with 6am. No, I'm definitely still tucked up in bed at that time.

People round here get up early JC, so I have to get up earlier! :)

If you go running in the same gear as for your floral dance I can understand😈 But surely the whole village/town knows about your antics now?

We're a tiny Hamlet of 11 properties and everyone's aware of my strange antics, but as far as I know, only one has had the misfortune to witness me running :D

You are not silly at all and definitely not a wimp Kaydenmummy. You have to feel happy and relaxed while you run so you will just need to find somewhere different to run or do it at a different time until you feel more comfortable. Well done for being good with food. Sure you will find another way to do the C25K :)

Hi. I remember the feeling well, not wanting anyone to see me. I started 'plodding' in the evenings, just as it was starting to get dark. I completed the programme approx. two years ago and I'm still very much 'plodding'. I go out on my own - 6am in summer - so I can go when I want and at my own pace. You'll get there.
