This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing:
If you join us for this Monday group weigh-in then one of the Fab 5’ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Moreless,,LotToLose and myself, Lowcal) will reply to you. However, please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments, but we will do our very best to get back to you as soon as we can.
Suzybenj is on holiday at the moment, and I'm not sure when she gets back, but I'd like to wish her a really wonderful time!!!!
Many thanks to Prin and the lovely Fab 5’ers for covering last week’s threads so fantastically and doing such a great job! It was lovely to get back and read the threads, and I enjoyed calculating the stats – here they are:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 140.
Total overall weight lost: 129.335 pounds (58.67 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 84 (157.575 pounds lost) (71.47 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 22 (28.24 pounds gained) (12.8 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 13.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 21.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 0.
Note for Newbies:
If you are joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals – setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful.
You could also make a note of your body measurements – sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It’s not all about the scales afterall – it’s how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you’ll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
Also, if you’ve not already seen it, then take a moment to read the ‘Welcome Newbie’ pack which is a Pinned post (situated on right hand side of homepage) which has been collated by Fab 5’er Moreless.
So, regarding my own weigh-in – I last weighed in on Monday 18th April 2016, and I was 12 stone 13 pounds. I’ve been away for 2 weeks to celebrate my 50th Birthday! I have definitely celebrated!!!! – and today (2nd May 2016) I weigh 13 stone 6 pounds which means I’ve gained 7 pounds in 2 weeks, hence I’ll divide that by 2 to give an average weekly weekly gain of 3.5 pounds per week.
I did manage to keep up with my exercise during my holiday, and infact went to the gym frequently as well as doing lots of walking! Now I’m back into my usual routine, and I hope to get to the gym at least twice this week, and also do some daily walking too. I am planning to cut back on my food and drink intake to sensible portion sizes and healthy choices. I would like to lose at least 3 pounds this week.
Thanks so much for all your kind words regarding my recent Birthday celebrations. I’m in the 50’s Club now, and it feels fine!
Wishing you all a great weigh-in! To those of you having a Bank Holiday today, I hope you all enjoy it! To anyone working – hope the day goes well too.
It's great to be back - Onwards and Downwards!!!

Hi, have completed my first week and I have stayed the same. 14st 11lbs. I think it's due to being close to my time of the month so I'm not surprised! It would've been nice to have seen a small loss on the scales though.
I'm sure you will. I remember my 2011 diet, I had a brill week and put on about 4lbs with the damn monthly... ...the next week I weighed in and had lost 8lbs (I was so shocked at even that much lol).. I always increase by up to 4lbs when the monthly deems to arrive
Will you be sticking to these scales Modge, or going back to the originals?
Sorry to hear that you've been unwell, but it certainly doesn't appear to have affected your weight loss, if 2.3kgs is correct! That is an amazing weight loss!
I hope you're well on the road to recovery now and that you have another great week!
The weight loss has possibly been down to the fact I have only had one proper meal in9 days ..and that was yesterday
chicken bread ,green beans carrots and some root mash ....
I have been living on porridge since a flare up of biliary colic I just couldn't eat anything else .
the meal yesterday was even more enjoyable as all ingredants were from local As .. Store and cost just 8 pence ....yes 8 pence ...for a meal for two ...!
excuse the spellings but my phone wont let me go back and amend ...urghhh
Oh my gosh Modge, that's terrible! I can sympathise, as I used to suffer like that until I had my gall bladder removed. Is that something that's on the cards for you, as 9 days sees pretty severe!
I was diagnosed in March ...so early days .That was what prompted me to reexamine my life and to get on the road to healthy eating .
I am able to tolerate pain well .
(I once worked 3 night shifts with a broken wrist ...I was more annoyed that I couldn't open vials of meds than the pain)
with the colic its the neausea that goes with it that get me .
I am trying to manage the bouts of colic through dietary intake as see surgery as the last resort .However I am aware it may have to be the way forward if things keep flaring up.
The first time I caved and visited a doctor for the pain, I ended up in hospital! Funnily enough, That was the May day weekend 13 years ago! I went in on the friday and was operated on, on the bank holiday monday!
The surgery was a heck of a lot easier than the pain!
Right I said I wasn't going to start reading I am up to AvatheGardener and will go back to the others on a bit, am 11.1 and 1/2 so have lost 1/2lb I think, despite the bank holiday Lowcal you will be soon back to the 12's I need to concentrate on getting back to those 10's on a permanent basis so want to be around 11 dead by next week
hey I have restarted the 12 week plan as i went completely off the rails and gained a lot due to stress and other things. i am now back on track and ready to lose weight properly and keep it off for good.
my starting weight is 14 st 6.5 lbs
hopefully this is the last time i will see this number. good luck everyone hope the week is a successful one!
Welcome Back Lowcal, its good you had a wonderful time, with your determination Im sure you will dissolve those extra pounds. My results are, last week 13.12, today 13.12.5. Strange as I feel a little lighter!!! As you say Onwards and Downwards. Best of Luck to Everyone for this next week.
Oh you are so kind and it is because of all you fab5vers that I remain upbeat. The scales could be having an off day, all I can say is I hope it gets over itself soon. Have a lovely day.
Good Afternoon. Pleased to report a 2 pound loss this week. I am now 15st 9lbs, starting weight 16st 3lbs, total weight loss is 8pounds . Aiming for 2pounds this week. Have a great bank holiday everyone
Woo hoo, MotherPip is a happy little Pip today. I was happy with my weigh-in today, thinking I'd lost a pound or so but when I just checked back to last week I weighed in at 239lb so even happier now. So today I weighed in at 236.2lb so almost 3 lbs gone off this week
Not quite sure how I have done it as less walking, less swimming and just one short bike ride. I've certainly eaten more than I should too (including an Italian restaurant meal)... Maybe last week was a hormone thing as well as Ed's Diner
And this means I have broken 2 little targets this week. I have lost a stone since I started on Good Friday (250.8lbs) and I have snuck below 17 stone so am in the 16s for the first time in a while.
It's been an up and down week weightwise. Mid week even managed to get a 9st 13.75lb reading, haven't seen that number on my scales since I was 17. If it had stayed there I would have beaten the 10st milestone and gone into the Healthly weight category. Lots of daily fluctuations unfortunately, so close to maintenance now, I can touch it with my fingertips.
Aim for next week is to lose a 1-1.5lb which will break both barriers and tick two more achievements off my list.
Wow, you must have enjoyed seeing the scales in the 9's mid week, and seeing that for the first time since you were 17 years of age! Wow! You're so close to the health weight category now - fantastic!!! Like you say, you're so close to maintenance now, that you can touch it with your fingertips.
Congratulations on losing 0.5 pound this week, and here's to you achieving both your barrier shifts next week, and to ticking off those two more achievements off your list.
Dr Who you are gorgeous as you are don't be growing out of those new bras😜 You will smash those goals with your steely determination go girl
I have only lost 1/4 lb this week . Yesterday I was63 and my friend was 70 years old. We went out for lunch had Japanese meal birthday cake and champagne. Also 2 lattes. Had a good day with friends and family. Today back on track walk 6000 steps this morning. This is good for me as I was not able to walk more than 100 steps a few weeks ago because of my back. Still in a lot of pain but have to keep going as pain would get worse.
Firstly, I'd like to wish you a Very Happy Birthday for yesterday!!! Lovely that your friend was 70 years old on the same day, and that you were able to enjoy a lovely lunch - Japanese food sounds delicious! Birthday cake and Champagne too - lovely! Great that you enjoyed your special day with your friends and family.
Sounds like you're back on track again today, and well done for walking 6,000 steps this morning. That sounds like a good walk. Really great that you have managed to do that - as I notice you have some pain from your back. You're obviously making good progress, and I'd like to Congratulate you on that, as well as achieving 0.25 pound loss in your Birthday week. That's really great!
Hi I'm new. I'm 35 I have a boyfriend no kids & travel a lot for work. I was weighed by doctor on Thursday at 79kg (12st 6) so consider today my initial reading. Targeting 11 st by 1 Aug. With ideally 2lbs a week loss. Have ordered some scales & a tape measure from Amazon so will complete the measures next Monday.
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in, and it's great that you're joining us for your first weigh-in today. It's good that you have your GP on board in supporting you on your weight loss journey. Hope your scales and tape measure arrive quickly - I bet they'll be with you in a couple of days, all being well. Are you going to follow the NHS 12 week plan? Using an app alongside it is really helpful. I find Myfitnesspal is really good. Easy to use and free.
Do have a look at our Pinned posts area - especially the Welcome Newbie thread, which moreless has put together. Also, there's a really good Recipe thread (consisting of posts by various members of the forum), and some Challenges there too. Well worth a look, and do join in anything you like the look of.
it's a maintain for me this week. weighed in at 81.7 again.
I'm actually really surprised as diet wise I've been terrible. Meal out with work Thursday(starter, main and chocolate cake with ice cream and pouring chocolate) was so full i struggled to walk. then had a take away Indian on Friday. and to top it all up I went out Saturday night for drinks with a friend. we had 2 bottles of wine and cocktails. then we had nachos, onion rings and sweet potato fries. was really nice, but was so expecting a gain on the scales this morning. so very happy carpo this week.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, despite feeling that diet wise you'd been terrible. You can't have been as bad as you anticipated - otherwise you'd have gained! A maintain is always better than a gain in our book. As I read through all the meals out you've had and the contents - I am as suprised as you are that you didn't gain. I hope very much that it won't be reflected in next week's results, so do try to minimise any further damage if you want to be a Happy Carpo again next week!
Glad you're happy, as that's a lovely feeling to have. Long may it last!
this has been my first week. I'd been doing so well and was on track for a really good loss. However....the weekend arrived and it all unravelled a bit. I'm a bit disappointed in myself but I guess it takes longer than a week to change lifelong habits. Still, I can report a 1lb loss which is going in the right direction. 13.8 last week, 13.7 this week. I said last week that I want to hit 13 stone by July, and I'm still keeping my goal!
It takes a while to get fully into the swing of things and the weekend has a knack of tripping many a seasoned loser Try saving a few calories for the weekend, so that you can splurge a bit without doing any damage
If it wasn't for weekends I would be about 5st, I am naughty on maintainiance but try and half desserts, and alternate alcohol with water or a soft drink good luck and keep going
I found Gaynor-571 in a 2yr old thread, so I've brought her back to us
My first 'weigh in'! I have been weighing around 14 stone plus for a while. I weighed on Saturday and was exactly 14 stone, after a run and better eating, this morning I am 13.13, (although it was 13.12 yesterday) so more runs / jog /walking this week and hopefully next Monday will be much better. First time I feel motivated for ages and that's because of the inspiration and support on this site. Thank you x
Hi Gaynor-571 - glad moreless has found you and brought you to the right thread. It's great that you're joining us for your first weigh-in - a very Warm Welcome to you!!! Wow, you've lost 1 pound already!!! Since Saturday - that is great!!! Really well done.
Hope you're enjoying those runs/jog/walking - it's all great exercise.
Glad you're feeling motivated and inspired by the support on this site. It's a great community.
Look forward to catching up with you at next week's weigh-in, and hopefully around and about in the forum too. Do check out our Pinned posts area - top right-hand-side of the homepage, as there are some good posts to read there.
Have a great week!
Lowcal
After having a really rough week I've managed to put on yet another pound. Now weigh in a 12stone 7lbs. I'm really disappointed in myself but I clearly need to make a change
Sorry to hear you've had a really rough week. Do you mean it's been rough in terms of being stressful, as that can defintely cause weight gain sometimes, due to hormonal influences - all that cortisol running through the body etc. Maybe think about ways to de-stress?
Try not to be too disappointed, as it is tough to lose weight when you're facing a tough week. I really hope this week will be a better one for you. Are you doing the NHS 12 week plan? If not, and you'd like to see if it might suit you, then here is a link to it:
You can download the plan there. Using an app alongside is very helpful to track food and drink intake, and exercise etc.
I hope you have a good week ahead and hopefully that 1 pound gained this week will soon be a thing of the past, and you can make some good progress.
Try to keep positive - I know you were a bit nervous about your weigh-in today, as I saw your post - I know you did a lot of walking on your day off as well - hope you enjoyed the walk.
Yeah I'm very stressed at the moment, coming up to uni assignment weeks and exams and I'm back on antidepressants so not feeling too great about everything.
I am on the twelve week plan but I must confess I've not been that strict with it in the last week.
Thank you for your message, responses like this really help in getting me in the right frame of mind
You sound like you've got a lot on your plate with all your exams and uni assignments - just take it a day at a time. Some antidepressants take a while to kick in as well, so maybe you'll feel more benefit from them as time goes on. I hope so.
Have you got any support at the Uni? - maybe talk to your tutor or consider some student counselling, if you think it might help. I hope you have some supportive friends too.
I hope you have a good week, and just do what you can to make healthy choices. Good luck with everything and hope you enjoy your week.
hi Hidden don't beat yourself up over not losing weight. be kind to yourself. you probably are anyway, just thought i'd suggest, eating apples, oranges and green leafy vegetables whilst you're studying. try and steer clear of processed sugar fixes. i'm just discovering this on my own journey at the moment. xox
Hi Lowcal. So pleased to hear you had a fab holiday and enjoyed your birthday celebrations. 7lbs in 2 weeks is not too bad a gain from your holiday . Bet you will lose that in no time with all the food and exercise planning you have mentioned. I am pleased to say that as of this morning I have now lost just over a stone. 11stone 10 at start and 10stone 9.5 today. So since last Monday have lost 2lbs. I increased my exercise big time and sure that has helped with weight loss. Was feeling very happy with myself but just had (unusually) a row with my daughter and feel like eating a packet of chocolate biscuits! I will try to be strong as I don't want to undo any of the hard work I have done. Good luck to everyone else weighing in today and have a great week.
Wow, you've lost just over a stone - that is absolutely fantastic!!! I am so happy to hear that!!! Congratulations for that great achievement, and also to losing 2 pounds this week. Really great!
I know you've just had a stressful thing with the row with your daughter - and that you feel like eating now. But I'm so glad you came here and posted about it, and it's great that you're distracting yourself from that urge.
Hopefully you and your daughter will both feel better after a cooling off period - post row is never a great space. You probably both need some time. At least it was an unusual occurrence for you. Maybe break the ice between one another if it feels appropriate. But whatever you do, avoid any contact with packets of biscuits. Like you say, you don't want to undo your hard work.
Hope you have a great week ahead.
Lowcal
I forgot to thank you for your kind words to me on my weight gain - I really do appreciate them.
Thanks Lowcal. I decided to go for a walk and managed to do 8875 steps so it's amazing what you can achieve when you are angry. It did keep me away from the biscuits anyway. Thank you for the congratulations it really means a lot ☺️
Hi Lowcal. So kind of you to message me. Doing ok today thanks. Had big hug with my daughter and I think we are friends again now. Day 1 of her art 'A' level exam went well so she is in a good mood tonight. Boy did my legs ache this morning after all those steps. I did have 1 small non-chocolate biscuit with my cup of tea this afternoon but all within my calorie allowance so I don't feel guilty. Lovely sunny day today - hope you had a good day too
Great, glad to hear that your day went well. Mine was fine too - like you say, a lovely sunny day - makes all the difference! Glad you and your daughter are friends again now. Enjoy the rest of the week.
Aww muffin, I'm really sorry to hear you had a row with your daughter. I know how traumatic that can be and how a packet of chocolate biscuits would feel like the answer - believe me, it isn't! It would actually make you feel so much worse. You and your daughter will make up without the need for sugar, because you love each other
Concentrate on your fab 2lb loss this week and tremendous 1st loss over all. You can keep going and a big hug with your daughter will help
Thanks very much moreless. She is in the middle of her A levels at the moment and is under a lot of stress to get the grades to get into the Uni she wants so is putting a lot of pressure on herself and I think she was just taking it out on me today. Managed to do a walk for 8875 steps so it's amazing what you can achieve when you are angry. Kept me away from the biscuits anyway ☺️
Welcome back Lowcal - and a belated happy birthday to you! It sounds like you had a wonderful time, life is to be lived and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself.
Last Monday I had forgotten it was "that week" of the month, so I think this week a combo of getting past that bloating, and a good amount of rest for the leg, have resulted in a decent loss. This week I lost 4 pounds, which I'm very pleased about, having had a couple of dodgy weeks before that!
The mood is still in need of lifting somewhat, so I will likely still be fairly awol, but at least the weight is going in the right direction.
I wish everyone a happy and healthy week ahead. xx
Thank you so much for your Birthday greetings, and lovely Welcome back. Much appreciated!
I'm glad to hear you've had such a great loss this week - many Congratulations on losing 4 pounds - that is great! I know you mentioned that you'd had a couple of dodgy weeks before that, so you were due a great week!
I'm so glad your weight is going in the right direction, and I hope that your mood will lift more too - to accompany your progress generally. We'll be here whenever you want to post, and there's usually someone around.
Sadly, but not surprisingly gained 0.5kg this week. Once my stitches were out I went "off plan" Fri, Sat, Sun ... Now I have to put that behind me and get back "on plan" this week.
Your weight gain of 0.5kg is understandable in the circumstances. Glad your stitches are out now, and I hope you are doing fine. You're ready to get back "on plan" and hopefully this week will be much better all round.
Well end of week 1 and weight has been down and back up. Started at 12st 10lb and ended up back at 12st 10lb despite seeing my weight go down during the week. A few events over the weekend and tried to pick healthier options and some days off the alcohol. As I couldn't do the calorie counting over the weekend I was shocked to see how many calories I had actually eaten! Admittedly it was a bit of guess work but there is no need for detail - there were far to many calories. On the plus side I was on the exercise bike a couple of times last week and out for a ride on Saturday morning.
Lessons -1) plan ahead (how many times have we been told that! 2) less (or no) alcohol.
It's a big learning curve at the beginning Sandy, so well done for maintaining! As time goes on, you'll get better at guesstimating the calorie content of food
Your two aims/lessons learnt are absolutely spot on! Planning is key to success and alcohol contains empty calories and weakens your resolve. Well done for being a good student!
All the best for this following week. Onwards and downwards!
Hi all, and a special 'welcome back' to Zest , you were missed. So glad you had a great holiday and birthday, you'll be back on track in no time 😀
This week I've gone from 10st 3lbs to 10st 2.2lbs, so a loss of 0.8 lbs. I'm not totally surprised as stupidly I did myself a fry-up Friday night, don't know why ... Afterward I felt a bit nauseous with the grease and won't be doing that again, but did stick to 500 calories on Sat! Yesterday I was at my daughter's for dinner, a lovely roast, but impossible to count the calories as I don't know how much oil was used to roast the veg. Mind you, having two large Yorkshire puds probably didn't help 😄😄 still that's life.
Thanks for your lovely 'welcome back' which I really appreciate - and I'll do my best to get back on track.
Congratulations on losing 0.8 pounds this week, that's great! Sometimes we do things we least expect and don't always know the reasons why - and your fry up sounds like one of those occasions. I hope you enjoyed the lovely roast dinner at your daughter's - it sounds delicious! Maybe 2 Yorkshire puds might have been 1 pud too much... lol But you lost weight, so you're doing really well...!
It is funny, my tummy is less able to tolerate fats since I have been keeping them low(ish) for the last 7 months and I too feel nauseous if I have too much.
Mmmm, Yorkshire puds are irresistible, aren't they?
Wow, that is fantastic!!!! Many Congratulations to you for losing 80 pounds!!!! You are well over half-way to your ultimate weight loss goal. You are amazing, and I join in the wonderful applause started by Anon-E-Mouse - waving pom poms too, which I know moreless will also be shaking when she gets back from cooking her delicious dinner.
All those milestones within your reach, and you'll get there very soon. Your progress is truely inspirational.
Oh wow LTL, I'm speechless! What a fantabulous achievement! You really are showing us the way! You're totally inspirational...........I want to be you!
I am definitely waving my pom poms for you and the same time as hanging onto your shirt tails. I'm hoping to be dragged across the finish line too
You deserve this, you've worked and are working, so hard! Hats off to you!
At the rate you're going, you should reach goal on the 19th September! Woohoo! Party time! That will be about 1 year for you and an absolutely staggering result!
Wishing you all the luck in the world, although I don't think you'll need it!
19th September would be fab if things don't slow down any more (they have a little bit), yes, that will be a year, it will be a great time for reflections, I think.
I keep nearly bursting into tears as it is, I will be a weeping wreck when I actually reach goal. Tears of happiness, of course!
Yes they are, just last night I thought how nice to take off my bra and not have that itchy red welt, and this morning, to be able to get out of bed without the help of a crane or fork lift truck. OK maybe not quite a crane or fork lift, but inching to the edge and levering myself up... I'm sure you get the picture 😄😄😄 and these are just the little benefits.
Hi guys, on average this week I managed to stay at 1330 cals so I'm happy about that. Didn't do any exercise or stick to lean in 15 meals but kept my calorie down. I lost 1lb
I have been doing much more exercise, been on my bike and 2 zumba classes this week but managed to gain 3 pounds, very disheartening, especially as I don't think I have been eating as much and trying to keep to slimming world free foods. Hopefully just one of those blips I keep hearing about and next week will be better.
Hi! I'm new so this is my starting weigh-in. I'm married and have an 11 year old son who absolutely hates all vegetables and is not all that keen on fruit, so I'll be scanning the recipes that are family friendly with hidden veg in them and I'll probably be begging for some inspiration from you guys too ;). I haven't been on the scales or measured myself in at least 6 months, but when your 'fat days' clothes don't fit, well, that's the kick up the bum you need, right? So here I am weighing in at 13st 11 3/4lb. I'd like to get out of the 'obese' bracket and in to 'normal' on the BMI scale sooner rather than later, but slow and steady wins the race ... but quickly would be great to keep me motivated lol.
Welcome Jo, you do have some challenges with a son who hates all veggies and most fruit
I am sure you will find some ideas on here, but it may be a good idea to post a dedicated thread to get some more replies as this may be missed. I think it would help others too!
Oh, I forgot to point you in the direction of the Welcome thread if you haven't seen it already, it is full of useful hints and tips and some inspirational stories too: healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
howdee y'all i am not near scales today, but i weighed myself on Friday so will go with that result which is the same as last week, weighing in at 9st 7.9lbs. running for longer times than walking this week, although eating chocolate biscuits last few days and indian takeaway and kfc burrito and french fries. tut tut! naughty naughty. that was not great behaviour. have been eating veggies & wholemeal couscous & fruit also, so not all my food has been naughty. will be running tomorrow. i would encourage anyone to run. really does clear the mind. XOXO
I love running, although I am still working my way through the C25K programme.
I think you did OK to maintain and not gain this week, so you must have made up for the treats with the healthy veggies and wholemeal couscous etc (sounds lovely).
I think I'm going to join the threads from now on to make myself more accountable - I lost nearly 2 stone since joining last year but for the last 8 weeks my weight has stayed the same, so hoping by declaring my weight loss/gain it will make me think before I eat anything!
So starting weight: 12st 1lb (same as last week...and the week before...!)
I'm been reading them for weeks and weeks and wondering how everyone else is managing to lose weight while I've hit this massive plateau! I'm reading the posts that mention looking at measurements rather than weight, and realise during those 8 weeks I've lost 2 inches off my waist so something is happening, just not on the scales
A similar thing has been happening to me too. I've just discovered that my bottom half is a size 16 now! I haven't even been bothering to measure below my waist! It just goes to show, that fixing on one measurement, means we miss out on improvements elsewhere!
O heck.I was doing OK,only slightly down on last week but then we get to Sunday and weight magically jumps on.Does anyone else have this problem?Never mind, maintained last weeks weight and Halfords have my new bike so hope to ride more this week
Exciting that your new bike is with Halfords right now, and hope you get to ride more this week, as per your hopes. Should be fun.
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week. I do think weekends can be most challenging, and that weight can jump up a bit at certain points within the weekend, but hopefully having this Monday weigh-in helps to minimise it a bit! That's my hope anyway!
Hi, this is my second week of the 12 week plan. I started off at 13 stone 11, I lost 5 last week and this week have lost 2lbs this week. Very pleased with the loss and feeling well motivated for the week ahead. Lovely to have a forum like this to help keep motivation, good luck everyone for the week ahead.
Congratulations on losing 2 pounds this week, and to losing a total of half a stone since you started. Wow, all that weight off in just 2 weeks, really great! Glad you're feeling motivated for the week ahead.
I hope you enjoyed your week, and I'd like to wish you another really good week ahead.
11.20pm I am going to bed now, as I am very tired. It's been a great Monday group weigh-in session (both Morning and Afternoon/Evening sessions have been really great!).
I think Prin is still up and around, for any late night weighers, but I will pop in tomorrow too to double check for any even later weighers - I know we're expecting Hidden who will be weighing in tomorrow morning. Good luck to you Frankie. Also, I know Hidden is weighing tomorrow too. Good luck!
Night night, and please weigh-in if you're a late weigher, as we will still respond to you at some point.
Onwards and downwards, and here's to a great week ahead for us all.
Welcome back! Well done keeping up your exercise on hols! You will have those pounds off in no time!
I will not be weighing in today as I have gone 4 days without my blood pressure water tablets. They make a huge difference and so my weight is hugely distorted. I have never gone this long today is my 5th day without.
I hope to get them tonight. So I propose I weigh in next week and split the weight loss (ever positive!) between the 2 weeks.
Look forward to reading everyone's updates tonight. X
Thanks for updating us, and we'll look forward to seeing you next week for your weigh-in, and like you say, you can then split the weight loss (I love your positivity - that is great!) between the 2 weeks.
Lots for you to read tonight, some really inspiring posts.
Hi all! Glad you had a great birthday celebration Lowcal. I've enjoyed catching up with all the posts now I'm back from my trip in Yorkshire. No phone signal on the campsite there, so couldn't log cals easily on MFPal. Had to guesstimate! Lost 1lb, now 11st 5. We are going away again for a few weeks. Hope to log in when I can. Have bought some slimline scales that fit in the seat pocket. Downside is they say I'm 1lb heavier than those indoors! So next week, if I've got a signal it may look like I've gained (or I could just knock off a pound, which do you think I'll choose? )
Welcome back from your trip to Yorkshire. I hope you had a lovely time.
Fantastic to hear you've lost 1 pound this week, that is brilliant. Congratulations!!! Glad to hear you've got some slimline scales to take with you on your trip - sound very handy! Shame they give you an extra pound though compared to the indoor scales - they seem to have their very own personalities and foibles don't they!!!? I would say choose whatever works best for you - re: your dilemma.
Have a great week. Good luck with getting a signal to enable you to log in - and enjoy your week.
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal and the Fab Five. Lowcal - hope you had an amazing time celebrating your birthday.
I weighed in today and lost 3.8lbs. Last week I was 15 11 and today I am 15 7.2lbs. I am so over the moon. In 5 weeks, I have lost 9.4lbs and haven't tracked a single calorie. All about portion control for me and not obsessing about foods in the way that I do when tracking calories.
I hope you don't mind me weighing in on Tuesdays. I feel like a fraud!!!
Yes thanks, it was great celebrating my Birthday - I had a really lovely time.
Wow, you've got a great result - losing 3.8 pounds this week, many Congratulations!!! Brilliant to hear you've lost a total of 9.4 pounds in 5 weeks, that is excellent! Great that portion control is working for you, and that you're not obsessing about foods. You've found a method that is best for you personally, and that is fantastic.
I don't mind you weighing in on Tuesdays at all. It's always great to see you! I don't do the stats till later in the week in anycase, so you will be included along with any other late weighers.
Wishing you another great week ahead. Hope Miss Fizz is enjoying her day and getting over her cold.
Woohoo FizzyLiz!! WTG you!! You're doing fantastically well and catching up with me super fast!! I'd better get my finger out!
I couldn't be happier for you. Keep up the great work!
Hi sorry I'm a day late! Have been away for the weekend with no scales!
I was sure I was going to gain having been away for 4 days but proud to report a 0.5 pound loss. Only 3 pounds til my first goal! Hopefully won't be long!
Sorry I'm a day late glad you had a great b'day lowcal I'm not happy to report I have gained 2lbs was 16st 5lbs now 16st 7lbs so I'm now 4lbs from my 1st stone. I know why it's all the travelling and not enough walking and every week I sound like a broken record saying new week start again but I feel like I'm in a time loop at the moment. So now we've bought an exercise bike let's see how I can knacker myself up on that 😃 and hopefully start moving down again. Finger legs toes everything crossed for next week my hols are getting nearer x
Great to see you! I know you've gained 2 pounds this week, but you know why - lots of travelling is really challenging, and of course means you have less time for walking.
I know you feel like you're in a time loop at the moment, but I really hope that you keep in mind that you're literally only 4 pounds away from losing a whole stone!!! So that means you've successfully maintained a weight loss of 10 pounds, and that is no mean feat!!! So Congratulations for that, Shortcake, and the fact you've bought an exercise bike is really great, as you can enjoy some great exercise on that (please notice I don't think you'll 'knacker yourself up on that' - I think it will be energising and enjoyable) (I hope I'm right! )
Wishing you success this week in seeing some Onwards and Downwards action on the scales. You can do it! Your holidays are getting nearer, and just think how lovely it will be to be a stone lighter by the time you go on holiday.
Thank you lowcal for the encouragement sometimes you forget the big picture when it goes a little bit off plan. I know I'm gonna have jelly legs and a sore derriere 😃 but I'll work it up gradually it'll be fine (she says with fingers crossed) 😀 onwards and downwards 😉
Apologies for the late post but want to acknowledge my weight gain this week. Up 2lb to 14 stone 3.5 lb. Nothing unexpected as I've exercised less, got the bus home a couple of evenings rather than walked just due to feeling lazy and have been out a few times this week without watching what I eat.
Oh well done you for fessing up small-steps! That takes guts! It's exactly the right thing to do though
We all have weeks where we just lack the oomph to do anything. I felt like that for a couple of weeks just recently and have only just regained my mojo. Hang on in there and this apathy will pass and you'll find renewed enthusiasm
Read all of the posts, because it's been a really positive weigh-in, with some really inspirational stories. They can't fail to rekindle your spark
Wishing you a fantastic week. Onwards and downwards!
Hi I would like to join this please as I need to lose a lot of weight and am targetting myself for 3lbs a week in the run up to summer to kick start. Have joined the gym but just building up as very unfit. Current weight 243 lbs. Yikes.... very much hope that's the last time I'll print that figure!! :[
Don't you worry about that starting weight, by next monday, it'll be a distant memory!
It's great to aim for 3lbs a week, but don't be disappointed if you don't always reach it. 1 - 2 pounds is considered to be the best and average sort of loss to expect
Have fun at the gym, baby steps is the way to go
Have a look at our welcome newbie thread, as it's full of useful stuff to help get you started. It can be found in the Pinned Posts section to the right of your screen, alongside several fun and motivating challenges that we have running
Looking forward to following your progress and wishing you a great first week
Consider yourself joined! a warm welcome to you and sharing that start weight can be so liberating - if you have just joined the site the NHS choices is a great place to start. remember to weigh In next week and hopefully you will have shifted some of those excess pounds. Heres to a great week -
Afternoon I'm a day late ! Well done on only gaining 7 pounds in 2 weeks - I do that in a week! It'll soon come off now you're back. I have lost a whole 2 pounds!! Though it's the same 2 pounds I've gained and lost all year! Never mind. Eddie the Shetland has stayed the same (he gets weighed every month). We did our longest run Saturday - 4.86 miles in 50 minutes. There were 6 very short exhausted legs between us. My fun run is exactly 4 weeks time (eek) and I'm running 8.5 miles there. But I'm following my training plan to the letter so I will do it! Focus this week is running 3 times including 5 miles Saturday (gulp) and sticking to eating three times a day - no snacks. I've moved them to the meals as MFP informed me that I eat more calories as snacks than meals. That sounds naughty even though they were 'good' snacks??
Thanks so much for your very kind words, and it's great to see you! Congratulations on losing 2 whole pounds, that is fantastic!!!! Well done to you and Eddie for your longest run - I hope you're resting your exhausted legs now, and having some much needed rest!
Not too long now till your fun run - wow, 8.5 miles is a long way!!! Glad you're following a good training plan, and hope you're enjoying that.
I hope your mix around with your meals works out well, and that you find a balance that works best - wishing you another great week ahead.
So sorry for the very late reply but I was out all day yesterday for the bank holiday! I am very pleased this week as I have lost another 3.25lbs which means I am now under 14st (just!). Last week I was 14st 3lbs and this week I am 13st 13.75lbs I have not read the thread yet but I am looking forward to seeing how well everyone else has done!
Hope you enjoyed the Bank Holiday weekend! Great to see you.
Do you know what you weighed last week? I can look it up, but if you can let me know, then that would be easier. I'm presuming you've gained a little, from what you've said.
Hope you cope with the busy time at work, and like you say - hopefully things should calm down after, so you can really focus on what you eat and do more exercise as per your goals. Good luck!
Thanks for letting me know. I'll count it as a 2 pound gain for the stats, if that's ok with you! Err on the side of a lesser gain. I gained 3.5 pounds this week. Just put it behind you, Tinkle, and move forward - we can get some weight off this week.
aah Lowcal - 49 +1 and you celebrated in style- well done I am sure some of those pesky pounds will come off very quickly
Like you I have been away- I was in the most glorious of Spanish mountain scenery. I did lots of hill walking and was moderate in my eating. I aimed to maintain - but alas put on 1.25 pounds in 5 days. I am singing 'Here we go again ....'
The most pleasing part of being away - it is a location I visit frequently - and this time last year when i was at my most heaviest - nearly 13 stone- was that I did not feel daunted by any of the hill walking. Whereas as last year I was puffing and panting and hot---if you know what I mean Whereas this time a good 8 or 9 pounds lighter - I did not exactly sail up the hills - but they were not a mental problem - and I embraced them as part of my weight management strategy. Which worked to a point....
So grabbing myself by the scruff of the neck this week - and taking things in hand
Welcome back from your holiday! I hope you had a wonderful time!!! We thought of you, and we missed you!!! I hope you remembered to pack your sunglasses, as I forgot mine.... (See, they're mocking me now...)
You've only put on 1.25 pounds, that is not very much considering you were enjoying your holiday. You'll soon get that off again in no time!
It's great to hear you enjoyed your walking and mountain scenery, and that you were able to appreciate how much healthier you feel being so much lighter. That would make a definite difference, and I'm glad you felt the difference.
Here's to a great week ahead for you, and I hope you cope with adjusting to normal life again (post-holiday).
Indeed - but it was more braying mules and dogs barking - but it was also fiesta time so put me mind of salsa dancing etc when when we go in the summer- when there is a 3 night non - stop party- got to have stamina when partying in Spain.
I submitted my weight as having gone up half a pound but when I went to update my tracker, I'd actually stayed the same. That's what happens when you have sneaky mid week weigh ins. This week I've actually lost 4.5lbs - happy days
Wow, what a great result!!! Congratulations on losing 4.5 pounds, that is really great!!! I think it's ok to have a sneaky mid week weigh-in - I have daily weigh-ins myself, but only ever report it on the Monday...!
I'm so glad to hear you're feeling chuffed to bits - what a great feeling!
Enjoy the remainder of your week, and wishing you another excellent week ahead.
I came London to spend holiday with my family for three week,my weight was before coming was 90 kg.but not I weight yesterdasy was 93 kg.in ten days I think I gain the weight or otherwise the scale showing this.
But I can't cotroll eating ,many many atractivethings around me all the the was party time.so I can't ignore,
So I can't say any think about in coming days .I will try to walk daily.
Great to see you, and it's lovely that you were away for a nice holiday. I hope you enjoyed your holiday in London with your family. I know you said it was Party Time, and that there were lots of tempting and attractive things around you - and I can completely understand that you ate more in those circumstances. I did the same thing over the past couple of weeks whilst I was away on my own holiday. Weight gain is inevitable in such circumstances, but don't let it put you off - just try to get back on track again now, and hopefully the 3kg you've gained will soon come off again.
I know you're planning to walk daily, and that will be really good exercise. Getting back to sensible portion sizes and healthy choices - maybe have a look at the NHS 12 week plan again, to refresh you about which week you are following will help.
Good luck Mano - and hope you have a great week ahead.
Hope everyone is off to a good start this week! I've been having a good week so far. Been to the gym Monday and Tuesday and will be going again tonight.
I think mainly because I'm trying to work off my gain! Only a small one though. 0.5lb gain so up to 12st 4.5lbs this week.
I went to the cinema Friday and helped myself to some pick n mix and then had a meal out at Miller and Carter Saturday. Didn't really go mad so don't think I deserved a gain but at least its only small. I didn't even have dessert! Oh well. I'll take it on the chin and have a good week.
Have all my meals planned for the week. Porridge with honey for breakfasts, ham salads for lunch and some new meals I am trying this week. All healthy versions though! Sweet and sour chicken, tandoori lamb, pizza topped chicken. I am ready for my loss on Monday!
Great to see you! Glad to hear you're having a good week so far, and well done for getting to the gym on Monday and Tuesday and going again tonight. Wow, that's great going!!! I've been once this week - but I do hope to go gain tomorrow, all being well.
You've only had a small gain - 0.5 pound, so hopefully that will come off soon. You've got all your meals planned, and that is a great strategy. Hope you enjoy those new meals that you're planning. They sound delicious! Good luck for Monday, and here's to you having a good loss on the scales for then.
Hi, I weighed on the 30th of April and was 106.7kg. My ideal weight according to the BMI calculation is about 73kg so that's a whooping 33.7kg to loose.
Welcome to the Monday group weigh-in. It's great that you've joined us, and thanks for sharing your starting weight. Try to give yourself manageable mini-goals to achieve, and that way you'll feel more motivated and hopefully successful too!
Have you seen our Welcome Newbie thread, that moreless has put together? Here's a link incase you'd like to have a read through - it has lots of things that community members have found useful within the forum:
The next weigh-in session will be Monday 9th May 2016, and there's a morning and an afternoon/evening session - the latest session link is always in the 'Events' section (right-hand-side of the homepage), so it's easy to find us.
I'd recommend the NHS 12 week plan, it's really easy to follow - but maybe use an app alongside to help you keep track of your food and drink intake, and exercise. I use Myfitnesspal, but there are lots of apps out there to choose between. It can help.
Wishing you a great first week, and look forward to catching up with you at the next weigh-in.
Do join in with any Challenges in the forum too - see the Pinned Posts (top right-hand-side of the homepage for details of those).
Hi, keen to join in to see if I can get the motivation needed to lose a little weight and reduce BP. I'm sire I'll get the hang of coming on and logging progress. Staring weight - 14 st; target weight - 13 st.
Welcome! Glad to see you're keen to join, and it's great that you found us ok. Thanks for sharing your starting weight, that's always a brave first step, and hopefully this time next week you'll be in the 13's. I'd recommend the NHS 12 week plan, as it's a great structure, and is linked to this Weight Loss NHS forum. There's a link to it within our Welcome Newbie thread:
We also have some other useful Pinned posts (top right-hand-side of the homepage) and also a collation of Recipes there too.
I'd recommend using an app alongside the NHS 12 week plan - e.g. Myfitnesspal or Nutracheck or something similar. There are lots around. It helps keep track of food and drink intake and exercise too.
Wishing you a great first week, and hope you enjoy it!
Thanks Lowcal, appreciate the welcome. As a start, I'd like to get involved in weigh ins, and in any chat that might help my motivation, and who knows, maybe I could give some back. I'd also like to know how I will get any alerts - if I like a thread, are updates pinged to my email?
If you press 'Like' that just notifies the person whose thread or reply you've 'liked' know that you liked it. If you want to get updates to your e-mail then you need to click on 'follow' (either the thread or the person, depending on what you want to follow), and then you'll be alerted each time the person or the post is responded to. If you go into your profile you can set up your preferences for what you are notified of. There's a whole range of options there. You could opt to receive updates of whenever a post is made within a particular community for example, but that can be overwhelming, as posts can be relatively frequent.
Hi again, just one more thing - I think you've been using the 'reply' button that is at the top - rather than the one directly under my reply to you - if you want to 'reply' to a particular comment, then you use the button directly beneath that comment. Hope that makes sense. It doesn't matter too much, but can be very confusing if you're in a big thread and lots of people are commenting. When you reply to me, I get notified, just as you will be notified that I've replied to you.
Hey! I have been careless about my weight and need to get back on it!
I am now growing a little one and need to reduce my BMI to have a healthier pregnancy! I've recently been to my 12 week scan and it's now A LOT more real, time to get serious!
I am aiming to diet like I did while in the NHS Healthy Weight Group which worked well for me last time but this time I'd rather not have to go to the group as I've moved further away, hoping I can maintain inspiration and momentum if I tag along with you guys?
I am starting at 280lb and aiming for 140lb (ideal weight one day post baby day), for now I am just looking to eat 7 carbs, 7 fruits and veg, 3 dairy, 2 protein and minimal fatty or sugary foods focussing on fresh food and minimal processed food.
I weighed this morning, do I just post once a week? Monday works well because I have a food tracker prepared... Hope to be keeping on it!
/Ifurienne firstly massive congratulations, please feel free to join us on the Monday weigh in group, the lovely Zest will post the thread around 7am if you click on the link on her name and follow her you will have an email notification when she posts
For now just try following the 12 week plan, it's a plan for life, if you have good eating habits the little one will have too
Brilliant that you'll be joining us, and Congratulations on your pregnancy. You have a healthy plan and you've had previous experience of eating healthily during your previous pregnancy, so it all sounds great!
Look forward to catching up with you at tomorrow's Monday group weigh-in. Glad Prin has welcomed you already.
Just the one pregnancy tho! Eep! Last time I dieted I lost over 1st on healthy weight plan in 12 weeks.
Looking forward to seeing some results and feeling better when my bump turns up. Right now I'm already feeling mahoosive and my colleagues often have to squeeze past me. I'd also like to see my bump, right now it has no chance of making me look pregnant until I'm much further along! Hehe!
Oops, sorry - I presumed when you said 'like the last time' that you meant you'd dieted previously during pregnancy. In that case, I would recommend ensuring your midwife and GP are on board with you doing the NHS 12 week plan. It's important to be healthy during your pregnancy, and I we are 'lay people' - and can't advise you on that side of things. I know there is an information page about pregnancy in the NHS Choices website. If I find it, I will link to it here for you to have a look, but I can't remember what the advice on the NHS 12 week plan says about pregnancy, or even if it is suitable - so please do check that out!
Yeah I'm not really dieting more of healthy eating so weight loss isn't a key factor for me but healthy is, if I lose fat in the process I'll have more room to grow on the inside so that's a happy coincidence. Whatever I do will be better than my previous head in the sand - chips, pizza, crisps and chocolate - method
That's great, you are very welcome. I will count you as a new starter for this week's stats, and please keep any record of your weight loss over this week so you can post it at Monday's weigh-in on 16th May 2016. Please have a look at the 'Note for newbies' in the introduction to this thread, as that will give you some information on what to potentially consider - e.g. body measurements and if you'd like to share your starting weight, and feel comfortable to do so, then post that too.
Have you seen the Welcome Newbie thread? It's in the Pinned posts area (top right-hand-side of the homepage) and is worth a read.
Have a great week, and it's good you're joining our weigh-in.
