About time

Hi, so I'm heading to the 17 stone mark, which is the heaviest I've ever been. My knees hurt and I get back pain too, so it's about time I finally bit the bullet and lost some weight. So here I am.

So here you are.........that's a fab start, it's tough at first, Lowcal does a great start up think/link!

Be prepared to cut portions, and check out sites for great recipes/ideas, alstroemerias use a bmi calculator and energy usage chart, that will help with what calories you need to lose weight

Well I was almost there in September. Have been on the programme since then. There are a few of us. It is definately worth it.

I am there too and have started on healthy eating today even thought there are hundreds of easter eggs in my house!  Just cooking a nice healthy low fat chilli for tea and forgot how much I love cooking from scratch!  My docs have agreed to weigh me every two weeks which I think will really spur me on - we can do this Joanna! !

Hi Joanna, I've been up there too! More than once! 😞 you're in good company on the forum! Everyone is so supportive and helpful! After all we're all in the same boat, just at different stages! Good luck to you and hope to see you about! 😁

Me too. Feel exactly the same as you. Starting tomorrow.

Good luck!

We can do this 😊😊

Hi Joanna,

I hit 19 stone a few years back and around the same time started to look back through some holiday photos. Alarms bells were an understatement - talk about kidding myself that I didn't look that bad and that I was fit and healthy!! Like you I was starting with back and joint pain - hardly surprising when your body is carrying the weight of two people.....

I lost 3 stone over a year and then started to slip back into my old habits, but rather than pay a fortune going back to Weight Watchers, I managed to stumble onto this site which has provided as much, if not more, guidance and support, but for free.

So far I have found that portion size has been my downfall,l and too many tempting nibbles easily to hand which meant I was eating for the sake of eating.  Just these two adjustments has meant I've lost 4.5lb in the last 2 weeks. :-)

Hi Redx, thank you for sharing your story. Portion sizes are an issue for me too. I've always had eyes bigger than my stomach since I was small, so sympathise hugely. Snacking is also a big weakness for me, so I've bought a bag of carrots to munch on when I get a craving for a snack. Brilliant news about your recent weight loss. I think this community will help me keep on track.  My next challenge is exercise.
