Read it and admire your honesty. You have a lot to face up to. You seem to have got to a place where surgery is your only option but I have a friend who has gone that route and it has been far from easy. Love yourself enough to make small steps towards getting healthier. You will need to diet before the surgery in preparation for what they do. Anything you do in terms of exercise will help. Try walking a bit further everyday, use the lamp posts as markers and go one further every day. You can do this. Things can get better.

Hi Toofattofit,

Thanks for reading, I have my inital consultation at the hospital on 22nd September, I'm aiming to lose a stone by then. I do also know that I will have to follow a liver shrinkage diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I've been upping my walking distance by 3 houses a day, I did 26 total today, 13 there, 13 back.

Of course things will improve

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob

Well done for taking this step. It will be hard but it really is possible.

The best advice I can give you is to never give up. You may have a bad day or a bad week but put it behind you and start afresh each time. They say the best dieters are the ones who recover from a slip up.

Also think about a long term sustainable diet. Find the healthy foods that you love and treat yourself to these often.

Wishing you all the best in turning your health around. You'll find loads of support on here. Just keep dropping in and it really does help!

Hi Alex,

Thanks for reading

I've been told not to give up by so many people! Giving up is not an option for me as I have always been a stubborn bugger! Both the pre consultation diet and then the liver shrinking diet before surgery, will definately be stuck to!

Cheers again - Rob

Well done I am so proud of you for having the courage to tell people what is happening in your life - I am huge fan of transpoarency and accountability as will be obvious form the recent before photo I posted :D

Hey I also meant to say.

I am listening to a podcast at the moment - "Cut The Fat" and in the one I was listening to this morning they were talking (amongst other things) about what people who are extremely overweight and probably have had a massive amount of simple carbs in theio life should do to kick start weight loss. What can happen is your body loses the ability to cope with the overload and just processes carbs straight to fat without really trying to use them.

They suggest a week or two on an atkins style program.

HIgh protein low or no carbs.

This can REALLY kick start your metabolism's fire and help it get out from under the constant carbs - plus you will lose AT LEAST 4-5 pounds in a week - probably more - not a bad thing.

Long term Atkins is not good for you but it for a couple of weeks? Definitely worth a shot.

Not what you're looking for?
