With the new FLIRT Covid 19 spurring the latest surge, who has or will be getting the newest Covid 19 vaccine? Is the new vaccine readily available already? Just checking in with my "MS Family" to see what's going on with the latest vaccine.
Thanks for your input! 🤗❤️😽

Interesting. My doctor has always recommended that I stay up to date with the latest Covid 19 variant. Do you shun the Covid 19 vaccine solely? Do you get yearly flu shots? I'm just curious what other folks are doing? Thanks for responding. 👍
I totally agree with falalalala! Funny: I worked at an eye drs (decades ago) who made the flu shot mandatory or we would get fired. So I got it (first and only time). I lived in Florida at the time and I called my husband and couldn’t understand why he was still working. I said why are you still working? There’s three feet of snow on the ground! He said we live in Florida, it doesn’t snow here go back to sleep! lol I swore I saw snow! O oops! 😂
Oh my goodness! The side effects from your flu shot really affected you. Everyone is different.
My doctor says it's important to keep up to date, and I saw that the new Covid 19 vaccinations were available. I think I'll be getting mine, but I hope "I don't see snow." Lol.
lol! I hope so too! It was really something! It affected me bad and I am real hesitant for more. I am allergic to lots of things and lots of things have an adverse effect on me! Now we throw MS into the mix. This life has been very hard for me! But, I keep on trucking!
I wanted to get one ASAP since I am going to be starting Mavenclad, and I thought a) The Mavenclad would be happening sooner, and b) It would take longer for the new one to come out. So I got the old one at the beginning of July, and the new one is already available! I wish I would have waited so I could get the updated one. It bums me out, but I didn't know. ☹️ My family will be getting the new one soon, and there's always Paxlovid if I get Covid, so I'm trying not to beat myself up too much.
I just had Covid and it was horrible. I will be getting my updated shot sometime in the next few weeks. It’s available here. I will be getting my flu shot too!
Last week I got diagnosed with a uti and then 3 days later with covid, double whammy! I have had covid twice before and it was much worse. My biggest issue this time is fever which causes such weakness it is scary. Woke at 1O1.2 and I was barely able to stand without hubs help. I need to keep up with tylenol during the night. I think a recheck for uti is in order so I will know if it cleared, is the fever from uti or covid🤷♀️
I can relate to how you felt with the fever, but no husband to help me. I could hardly move or walk. My muscles ached so much for about a week. I’m still dealing with dizziness and a horrible headache, and it has been a while since I tested positive for it. Feel better soon! ❤️
I just read an article about the updated vaccine, and the experts said you can wait three months after having Covid before getting vaccinated because you will have natural immunity for a while. Then you can get the vaccination and be protected for longer. Just write it on your calendar so you don't forget like I probably would! I'm sorry Covid was horrible for you. ☹️ Are you feeling completely back to your normal self, I hope? How are Emily and Stormy doing?
Oops, I just read your post above. I sure hope your headache and dizziness go away soon. ❤️
Thanks for the info on waiting for the shot. I was able to see Emily and she is just like she always is, doing great. It’s hard to believe there is anything wrong with her. Stormy is back to his old tricks! He can go hiking again, so we are on the trails and he is happy, happy!
I'm going to get it as soon as it's offered in the UK. I know me and the husband have caught covid recently, but I'm unsure if it was the FLIRT variant. That had him having to work from home for a week, until he tested negative, and me having to cancel my carer for 2 weeks, because I was scared she'd pick it up and accidentally pass it on to other people she cares for, for an additional week 🫂 I messaged her and explained to her why I cancelled my visits with her office. She was very thankful and so understanding. It does knock you for six! Well it knocked me for 6 🤷♀️ hubby just 0lodded along. We knew the score from the past pandemic: when outdoors you mask up, don't get yourself into crowds, wash your hands regularly, use alcohol gel when needed. We did have to nip out for shopping on one week, but we went later in the day when we knew there'd be less people. I'm hoping we didn't accidentally pass it onto other people 🙏
I got the J&J vaccine back when they were forcing everyone to get vaccinated or lose their job. That was the ONLY reason I got jabbed. It was purely under protest. Even my Neuro was against the shot but took it to keep his job. 26 years in the military, I had injections for everything from yellow fever to anthrax to small pox and God knows what else. I don't want anymore "stuff" put into my body.
I will be getting the new Covid vaccine when we have it available here in MI. I usually schedule my vaccine at Walmart. I keep checking every few days online and it shows nothing available yet.
I'm really torn. I have gotten every single one that has come out. I get SO sick from them and it takes longer to recover with each one. At this point it would take me about a full week to feel better.
I'm VERY pro-vaccination but am on the fence about whether to get my overdo Covid booster (only overdue b/c of the Kesimpta I had to switch to) or wait for the brand new formulation to come out. They've been saying "August or September" since June now! The recent spike is scary for those of us who are immunocompromised, and I have a message in the portal that I'm waiting for my MS doc to respond to. I'm curious if she'll recommend that I keep waiting, given the recent spike and new variants. Stay tuned! (p.s. Our CEO's response to the latest spike - which has knocked out some of my very healthy coworkers - at our monthly all-staff meeting was "Do your part to prevent Covid by staying home if you're sick." Not one single word about masks. Ugh. This is why I have a doctor's note on file with HR that says I cannot attend crowded meetings!)
Yes! Walgreens won’t have if until next week, which will be too close to my next Kesimpta dose…but CVS has it! I have an appointment on Saturday. Thanks again for letting me know.
I will not be getting the vaccine. I was forced to get the first one and then not required after that. It is my personal choice and will leave it up to you to do what’s best for you. ( for reference only I am on Ocrevus and work full time as an RN).
I wouldn't get that in a million years; I've not taken ANY of them. I am a 58 year old female, have RRMS and you ain't touching me with those vaccines (ditto for flu shots), but to each his/her own, and I respect the choice of every individual. My doctor supports my choice. All the best to you with your decision.
I have gotten all of the vaccines and will be getting the new one when it is available. I also get the flu vaccine every year and keep up on my pneumonia shots.
There's a new varient? Oh, 💩. Hubs will be shoving me through the pharmacy door again to get the injection. (a very Type-A guy). But, since I just had an infusion, I usually wait about 2-3 months. So, yes. Around November.
