You're not letting her down. You're just disappointed that you can't do the things you used to. That's hard on you, but kids are resilient. Mine grew up knowing that sometimes Mum's legs don't work right. I'd sit while they played, or they'd curl up next to me and we'd read a book or watch TV. The walking and the skating and the legs don't matter as much as you think they do. YOU are what's important to her, and she'll have good memories no matter what you do together.
You and all the rest of us are indeed very grateful for the kind and loving response from NorasMom. Sometimes, this disease does overwhelm us with all the losses it inflicts, and we lose sight of the most powerful assets it cannot take away. As NorasMom says WE are important, the essential qualities that make us who we are -- that's what's important -- not what we once could do.
It's not easy I hate it too but try to male one day at time. And always seek for God's help HE listen and help no matter what. Your His daughter and He sees your pain ask Him for relieve and He will give it.
Have you seen a pain specialist? Sometimes they can do nerve blocks by injection that other doctors can't offer you.
I don't have grandkids yet. I was talking to my hairdresser/good friend about how I won't be able to go places with my grandkids, because my mobility just isn't good. She told me that her mother-in-law used to come over with crafts and activities to do with her kids when they were little, and they loved it. Yes, it really sucks that we can't do things like everyone else. But we can find new ways to spend quality time together.
We do crafts at home as well and she loves it. I think I put too much pressure on myself by wanting to continue what I use to do before this stupid disease raped me of my normal lifestyle
Compression sleeves for my feet take the edge off to constant pain in my feet. I live in nanosocks. Sometimes I wear compression sleeves for my calves too
Welcome to the forum, Β AllDayPain . I try to focus on what I can do rather than what I cannot. You can visit mymsaa.org for resources to manage this disease. I look forward to hearing more from you. Keep Smiling π€
I had the same problem and it took years for my drs to run a Rheumatoid Arthritis test. Mine was positive. I would put mineral ice (found in a drug store) that i would put on at night. But shoes can help as well⦠You need to try wearing Hoka sneakers and Merrel jungle Moc. Keep bringing up how much your feet and ankles hurt. RA affects joints on both sides of the body at the same time.
