Breast Pain

Has any female ever had pain in one breast on the outer side of the breast? I have had up to #10 pain there for 28 days and I am still waiting for the doctor's office to schedule a mammogram. Does breast cancer cause severe pain? I also have double pneumonia, been on antibiotics for 3 weeks now. Doctor office also said no reason to test for Covid cause I;m already on antibiotics. Sometimes y right side (same side) forearm muscles also hurt, and my right hand has tremors, and my back trapezoid muscle has trigger points. Doctor also said no use going to a neurologist since I can't take any of the DMTs. What do you do at this point to cope with intense pain all over right side of body? Go to a pain clinic and hope for percocet??? Norco doesn't phase the pain. Nor hot pads or electric massagers, variety of pain cream, nor Delta 8 gummies legal in KY. IF THC was available I would try that. Any experienced in this? I am 76 so its not related to menopause πŸ™(May 2023 be a much better year.

yes I have .pain in left breast which is also become considerably larger than right breast.GP said he would refer me to the breast clinic.Yesterday I received a letter from GP that stated "the breast clinic dont think you need to attend and think your pain is in your ribs and joints not your breast."I told GP the pain was in my breast and now ask how can it be caused by pain in my joints.?The GP said the same about my heart when it was thought to be angina-the pain is not your heart but in your ribs and joints.I have painful joints and bones and have done for many years and breast pain happened about 2-3 weeks ago so it is not due to pain in joints and ribs.Am I wrong in thinking how can the breast clinic make assumptions as to what the pain is without carrying out a scan or mammogram.

To agape pilgrim & african queen : Makes me angry without exam or test. Get another dr if ppossible. Watch mysterious diagnosis program & lots of people written off, with minimal exams who had serious issues.

Hope you can get scan soon & at same time hope it is negative

You also have lymph nodes that run through those areas. You can have inflamed nodes causing the pain. There are many different reasons those nodes become inflamed. That would be the route I would pursue. I have one under my arm that swells from time to time & it makes my arm, ribcage & back sore. There's no one reason for it that the Drs can find & they did check for cancer which came back negative. Prayers you find the answer & receive complete healing, Amen.πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

I had a CT scan in september 2020 -the report listed enlarged lymph nodes in various parts of the body -including oesopheagus and Atelectasis in chest.cyst on kidney was still present but no larger. Lymph nodes in my breast were my thought too .I asked my Gp if he could arrange another CT Scan-as how do I know what I have has not got worse? This was done on the 20th december.I have not seen the actual scan report yet but have requested a copy but GP said my scan was normal.I don't see how enlarged lymph nodes as many as I had can all suddenly be normal size.My medical record said "she has requested a CT scan because of seeing abnormalities on previous scan and I expect it will be normal"(not his exact words). I questioned this as I thought it was the radiographer 's comments.GP said it was him and he had to provide a reason for scan request. He decided before getting the scan report that it was going to be normal.

Sometimes Drs think we overreact... Sometimes they're wrong.

they also keep inaccurate records -record what they think not what they are told.

Sorry for you pain. I am not a doctor but it could be related to your pneumonia. I would get to the doctor again. Not sure if breast cancer causes that kind of pain. My prayers are with you and I hope that you get some answers real soon

Have mercy! I do not have any answers, Agapepilgrim. I am so sorry you have that much going on. KY doctors sound like Mississippi doctors - if they are unsure of your problem, they toss a diagnosis at it, & stick with that. Correct or incorrect. I was once told a ruptured disc was bursitis. Please, please follow through & keep us posted. Double pneumonia alone sounds concerning! Prayers for a quick, pain-free recovery.

first, i'd switch doctors. even if you can't take dmts, there are other things a neuro could do... like prescribe medication for spasticity, nerve pain &etc. weird he'd say that. sometimes my skin hurts, but it doesn't sound like that. do you think the pain could have anything to do with the pneumonia? just a thought. also, antibiotics aren't to do with viruses. i'd guess covid makes anything worse, especially respiratory illnesses.

i sometimes have breast tenderness bordering on pain, but it's due to pmt. aside from seeking a different doctor, i'm not sure.

You have received a lot of good counsel. I also recommend a new doc or at least a second opinion. check out all possibilities. Hoping for the best. Stay close.

Ok, I am a doctor. If you hate doctors you can stop reading now. Your pain is real. You have been treated shabbily by your GP and the breast clinic. A physician needs to do a good hands-on exam of your breasts and your chest wall. From your description I am pretty sure that your pain is from the chest wall and not from breast, but I would not make any diagnoses or assumptions without a good exam. Severe pain from the chest wall can be treated with a nerve block. Referral to a neurologist would be a good next step. Breast cancer very rarely causes pain and it would not cause the intensity of pain you have, so don't worry about that. What you need to do now is do a web search for "mastalgia." Hopefully you will be able to understand why lateral breast pain, like you have, is most often from the chest wall, not the breast. You should take opioids rarely, if ever. Your body can become addicted very quickly, and withdrawal can be miserable.

Best of luck to you. I hope you get some answers and relief soon.

Sharon, M.D.

Sorry about my reference to the breast clinic. I got your story mixed up with TheAfricanQueen's story. Anyway, not referring you to a neurologist because you can't take DMTs is utter bullshit. You should be seen by a neurologist for your severe pain syndrome. It has nothing to do with your MS or its treatment.

mine is referred pain from my ribs. My PT & LMT both say there are tiny little muscles between the ribs which can cause havoc.

It's called intercostal neuralgia.

β€’ in reply toBettysMom

in 2014 was diagnosed with Costochondritis and any rib pain is put down to that.could I have intercostal neuralgia?

I have costochondritis, also. It takes my breath away, feels like a knife stuck in my chest. And nothing they will do about it. Now, my last chest CT scan showed bronchiectasis, and I cant get a pulmonologist to prescribe a Airway Clearance Vest to slow down the progression. Has anyone used on of these type vests?

No, doctors will not prescribe it for me - only pain pills and anti-depressants and sleeping med. I need to find another neurologist, for sure.
