Women With MS Require Better Reproductive Care

This article is about one study that isn't perfect, and it's a bit vague about the care women should be getting. It mentions cervical cancer screenings and I think HPV vaccinations. But it does raise questions for me that I plan to ask my gynecologist about. Like does being on what they call an "IS" (immunosuppressant) medication change how often I need screenings, or how long I will need them? Normally women get to stop screenings at (I think) 65. If I'm still on a DMT past that point, will I need to continue them?

Let me know what they say! Why do they stop at 65?

I think it's not considered to be as much of a risk unless (according to this) you have had abnormal pap results or are "immunocompromised". A lot of "mays" in both articles, though.

Eh, better safe than sorry. The guidelines recently changed where a pap is only needed every 2 years, but exam every year. Nope 🤣 If I have to take my pants off, then the test is going to be done too 🤷‍♀️

I don't need any of those screenings anymore. I had a Hysterectomy in my 40s. I told the doctor to take everything so I didn't have to worry about cancer in those areas. Best thing I ever did!

That's great. I'm glad that having to have major surgery made you so happy, mrsmike9! 😅 I certainly see where you're coming from on that, though, and I like your perspective.!

Not having to worry about bleeding all the time is wonderful! I was on double birth control pills to get it to stop. One day I was driving to my gyno appointment and heard it was national organ donation month. I told the doctor that and said I wanted to donate all my reproductive parts. I didn't need, or want them anymore!
