I hope Dr. prescribes RICE! Rest & Ice - RICE! I donโt know why & neither my Neurologist & GP canโt figure out why but I have lost 60 lbs. in the last 18 months. I have had MRIโs from head to toes! Even the brain MRI shows about the same white spots as when I got my diagnosis almost 7 years ago! In trying to put weight on, I even eat candy, I tell them itโs loss of muscle weight because I canโt ride my bicycle 200 miles a week because of MS! Iโm not sleeping well lately. I have RX to help me get some rest. Went to bed about 10:00PM, cat came in about midnight soaking wet.. we keep towels under our pillows so he knows Iโm going to cuddle him and dry him off. He gets caught in the neighbors sprinklers!
Last night I got about 3 1/2 hours of rest. Maybe a nap & earlier bedtime tonight Oh, forgot to mention I am not taking โChair Yogaโ as even if I try to stay in the chair, I almost fell out of chair! So will wait until Iโm stronger before taking any more classes. I miss my friends there,๐
Would a bubble suit have prevented this latest mishap, ย falalalala ? Hoping that you are better and that this was nothing! Rest and apply ice, like ย CalfeeChick mentioned. It stinks that you wonโt be able to do what you wanted to do, but you should be back soon!
I'm sorry you fell, falalalala! It sucks to be so helpless. I hope the pain gets better and you don't have to go to the doctor. And I'm very glad you have your husband to help you. โค๏ธ
Yes, you have a nanosecond to realize you are falling and then you are on the ground. It is awful! I hope you heal quickly. And...as you mentioned above, you are fortunate to have a great hubby.
He was used to it as I'd do it at random times.I used to think it was pretty funny, now I scream when he lifts me with a warning. He says he's going to carry mr down the stairs and I'm freaked out!Whata baby!๐๐
That's a BIG knock on your esteem when stuff like that happens ๐ซ I know I only need to call in the hubby for help when I can't get out of our bath, or need the chair/stool thing just so I can brush my teeth ๐ซฃ other times when I haven't exactly called him in to help is when I'm having a seizure ๐ my last lot was late at night, just as we were about to sleep, and I had a crazy aura! I felt I needed to throw up, so hubby came with me to the bathroom, got me a glass of water after I threw up, then he noticed one side of my face had drooped. So, he got me away from the toilet, put me into the recovery position, and called for an ambulance after the 4th seizure in a row. Better than me having seizures on the toilet when he's asleep ๐ the only way he hears me having one when I do have them on the toilet is me kicking the side of the bath ๐คฃ I'm happy hubby's building up muscle on his arms so he can move me into safer places without hurting himself โค๏ธ its funny when I wake up in hospital and he tells me how many I've had, how he realised I was having a seizure, and why I've got a 'mysterious' bruise somewhere ๐คฃ he told me about a time we were in A&E once, and for some reason I was asking people if they're ok! I don't remember that one. He's also told me why I had a cannula in my hand, rather than the inside of my elbow (I'd apparently ripped that one out ๐ฎ). Significant others are the backbone to our positive mentality โค๏ธ I'm happy you've got one that'll carry you to the ends of the Earth and back ๐ซ
He really has taken his vows to heart! Not like he needed to in the first place... he was really understanding and remembers everything I've told him about this demon disease from back when we first started dating 9ish years ago ๐
It is scary, but I like to laugh at what my mum says to brighten the mood: "put her in a bath, add washing powder and washing. She'll save you loads on electricity!" To be fair, she says that to the hubby, but I know she's been in his shoes before - her brother (uncle A) was born with generalised epilepsy and she's told me of a time when uncle A was in high school and had a seizure. The school called her up, so she went and sat with him until he finished seizing. Her partner recently had his 1st seizure in the kitchen with mum present. She cared for him, called an ambulance, and was beside him in hospital.
There's not many people to go into "Emergency Mode" on a dime and not panic, but I'm thankful I've got plenty of people around me to do that ๐ซ
As charming as it sounds to have a spouse carry you like a newly wed, I do hope you recover before his back goes out! Tell those pants to straighten up or it's trash time for them!
As for my last spectacular slip-go-down...Well, there was invisible algae on my handicapped ramp, my feet went out from under, and I fell backward. I bounced on my butt , the back of my head hit the ramp, and my left arm struck a support post. The hardest part was scooting on my bottom to the bottom of the ramp, flipping over onto my knees, and maneuvering into position to pull myself up using the end post. I thought my arm was broken, but it was only bruised. I hired the ramp power washed; afterwards non-slip strips were applied to the wooden ramp surface. But I'll never trust it again!
When I fell, I sounded a lot like a screaming goat .....I think you know what that sounds like๐
Next time I paint the porch steps, I will put some grit in the paint so I can exfoliate my entire back, legs. head. arms and head all at once for I'm a professional time saver.๐
It's your call, falalalala, but you do realize how that sounds? If you're too injured to get an x-ray, then...maybe...you should figure out a way to get an x-ray? Just sayin'. : )Has anyone else noticed that doctors and vets are calling x-rays radiographs now? After how many decades?
I haven't fallen lately, but there are still repercussions from the last time. I fell in the bathroom and hit my breast on the vanity...major bruising for a couple of months. No big deal, until I ended up with a small lump a year later...mammograms, imaging etc. done. Probably not a big deal, probably just a cyst. Then I got a second one, and more mammograms and imaging. Probably still ok. I have a follow-up imaging next month. I don't think there has been any change so probably still ok. This year, even though I'm not falling, I've been clumsy. I dropped a laptop on my left foot. It got bruised and hurt but no problem walking. The next day proceeded to drop my phone on the same foot. More bruising. A couple days later stubbed it on a piece of furniture. Thought I was done ...stepped awkwardly on the lawn...pain, hit it against the bookshelf ,,,more pain. I think I'm done hurting that foot, because I've already started on the other one. I also cut my finger cutting up a sweet potato...all healed but it did manage to bleed quite a bit, which is hard when you're trying to prepare a meal. Hoping the rest of the year goes smoother.
That all sounds painful! I hope things improve for you. Do you think that maybe physical or occupational therapy might help? I don't know much about it, honestly, but that sounds hard!
I'm sorry to hear about your fall, alot of good info said here-Rice & if your hip doesnโt get any better then X-ray.
Youโre so fortunate to have hubby to count on. Alot of people have no one, I have my boyfriend of 12yrs to count on. No children or brothers or sisters.
I'm so sorry you had a fall and got injured. Bless your hubby for taking care of you and carrying you to the bathroom. If you still feel pain tomorrow, definitely go to the dr. and get an xray. It will probably be fine and that will make you feel so much better. I fell tonight after dinner while cleaning up and putting things away. My foot froze itself to the floor when I tried to turn and I felt myself going down - hit my hip on the floor first and then twisted and whacked my head so hard on the cabinet that I think they heard it down the block. Hubby saw it happen and ran over - I asked if he saw if my head hit the granite countertop (sure felt that way) or the wooden cabinet - he said it was the cabinet. He kept wanting to help me up from where I was slumped on the floor and I just wanted to lay there for a while taking inventory on what my injuries were. Finally went into the living room and laid on the recliner with an ice pack while looking up symptoms of a concussion online. I said my hair saved my scalp from being split open and my fat hips saved me from breaking something! Never a dull moment. Please keep us posted on how you're doing tomorrow!!
I'm slowly getting better but he still has to help me. I was taking Tylenol for pain but it made me sick. I thought I had the flu!๐๐คฎ
So, aspirin and ice for now until I can manage the stairs to get to a doc.
I know the feeling of laying there to assess things. I fell and cut my head a few months ago and now have a scar above my ear. It's my protection against future stunts and tight glasses.๐
Glad you are on the mend, albeit slowly. Hang in there and hopefully you will be able to get to the doctor soon! I'm better now, don't think I had a concussion although when I read in the symptoms that irritability was one, my wiseass husband, said YES you have that!
