I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's retirement and subsequent worsening depression. Depression can be hell for the person going through it, but also for the people they live with. I'm glad you're staying warm, though. This cold weather has been extreme to say the least! 🥶

I dread my husband’s retirement.. he reduced his hours to part time 2 years ago but having to pay double for the insurance was killing us.. luckily for my son who had just bought his first home ( a fixer upper) hubby had plenty to do for a while.. he just went back to full time benefits last week to reduce the bleed of money.. he has less time to fuss with daughter ( who is home in training , getting clinical hours for her job) life is just better when he works a little more..is your hubby being treated for his depression? It is a huge transition to retire.. it really was tough for me as I didn’t see it happening for me for at least another 5-7 years.. can’t do patient care and walk with a cane and if you can’t keep up cognitively with the 22 year olds learning new procedures.. it’s time to go.. I love my life now though.. maybe if he goes to the gym the endorphins will help.. it helped me significantly.. I was making a pair of pants in November with the lidocaine patches before I got my epidural injection .. sending good thoughts your way 🙏🏼❄️🤗

We have been fortunate that my husband has joined us in family counseling.. we are working on issues involving the adult daughter who is in training to be a qualified mental health professional and me.. he can be a hot mess but actually seems to listen to our counselor who ironically has MS as well.. we just had another session this morning virtually.. we have been doing this since last June periodically

Joining a church group helped my husband so much with his negativity and anger. They have “life groups” for men, women, or couples. And to join a life groups, our church does not require that the person belong to a church. My husband went through a weekly meeting to start with every Saturday morning called “Authentic Manhood” where men learn to talk to each other and relate with one another. It helped him so much because he is not one who is able to communicate his feelings. Hearing other men share their problems helped give him a voice. They speak confidentially so I don’t know what all they talk about and I don’t ask. He still not good at communicating with me but he much more at peace with himself and life. Good luck. 🤗
