I will be home today. My neighbor checked my deep freezer and it's not cold everything defrosted a d I lost all the food in my refrigerator also. My churches food ministry lost all their cold and frozen food and a tree went thru the Roof and they may have lost some of the non perishable food. I will know more about that tomorrow when I go to church assuming we have churchThank you all it is so great to have you all

Sorry you lost all your food. I pray that's the worst thing. I know it's horroble to live through the mess. I've been through 2 tornados & made it through ok. I think hurricans are probably a bit worse because of all the rain & flooding. The devistation afterwards of both tornados & hurricans are kind of hard to take emotionally. But thankfully, Jesus has your back! Amen.

I got home yesterday morning. And cried as I filled up 3 garbage bags of food from my fridge and deep freezer

It’s terrible when you lose all the food you had. You are safe and your dogs are safe I hope you didn’t have damage to your home. You can replace food and fix your home. Focus on what you have and start to replace what you lost. It’s hard I know but you will get through it. Take care of yourself.

My dogs are fine no damage to my home and I am fine. My flu symptoms are much better. But I think my MS us trying to push through. I am doing my best do stay on top of that. I have a really great support system here

I have a small portable generator that I have not been able to start in 4 years, but it started on the second pull and ran for 1-1/2 days for my fridge and freezer. God is good.

That is great news your power is back on. So very sorry you lost the food in your fridge and freezer. That is horrible news about the church.

Oh my! Check with your insurance company. Sometimes they will cover lost food from a disaster. Of course your deductible will come into play, too.

Turtlepie profile image

I am going to but I have a 1000 dollar deductible

Me, too. I know I don't have that much in my freezer so it wouldn't help me, but if you had a lot....

I did an inventory and looked up at Walmart how much it would cost to replace it came to 308.76. I am going to call my insurance and see if there is a prevision for a small claim like that

Thank you. I have made a list of all the food I lost and I didn't have much in clean up my neighbors did most of that and I didn't have any flooding. A friend put me up when her electric came back on. I have been very blessed.

We live in an area that is subject to loosing power in hurricanes, straight winds and sometimes just a big thunderstorm.. we lost the contents of our refrigerator and big stand up freezer so many times and hubby started needing a CPAP that we sucked it up and got a generator.. luckily the contents of the fridge and freezer had no deductible with homeowners insurance.. plus when else do you get a chance to deep clean them both at the same time.. truly so glad to hear that you are safe.. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
