We are starting into our 5th day without electric. Friday from about 1 PM till past dark we had hurricane force winds of 70 to 80 miles an hour throughout the state of Kentucky. They weren't part of thunderstorms or front lines they simply blew and blew until everything was torn up. It really tore the whole electrical interstructure up, blocked roads, closed schools and businesses.
Friends of ours had some hay feeders from the farm about a quarter mile away and across 2 big fence lines blow into their front paddocks. It was like it was from the wizard of oz because they somehow managed to land in their front field without tearing up either fence row. They even had a hay shed blow over and land in their mare's field.
We had a lot of trees blown down or broken up severly. Part of our roof blew off but everyone was safe and sound so that was all that mattered. Our horses came through it unscathed, our barn came through it intact and my son's small house was also undamage so all in all we did very very well.
