Hi. I've been having pain in my shins for a year or so, when I wake up, if I try getting out of bed by leaning on my feet, they hurt. Walking hurts. Standing, etc. My podiatrist gave me stretching exercises to strengthen the hip muscles, he said, I think. I can only do some of them, because MS. Anyway they don't seem to be working.
Tomorrow I see my neurologist. I guess I'll ask her too, but has anyone here ever experienced this, and what did you do? Thanks. Best to all.

Try rotating your ankles, making as big of a circle as you can. Rotate clockwise for about a minute and then counterclockwise for about the same amount of time. Try that a few times through out the day. Also ice down your shins to help reduce any swelling, plus it helps to reduce pain. See if that helps.
Shin splints are awful! I have experienced them many times over the years. The only thing that is useful to me in avoiding them is to stretch my legs thoroughly before starting any exercises. It sounds like you might need to stretch before you start your day. I hope your doctor has some good advice for you.
