I will probably be needing French Drains and/or the like installed to solve my on-going water issues in my backyard. I am living in the house that I grew up in, which I inherited upon my father's death in 2008. The house is my only asset.
My head is spinning this new year. FWIW, I have been living on SSDI since age 42, and I will be turning age 56 in late March. My credit isn't so good. Ugh! Does anyone have any idea of where I can turn to get financial assistance?
I'm really at a loss. You know, I worked as long as I could. And, I'm not too proud to ask for help, but I don't know where to turn? I live in Pennsylvania. The state pays my monthly Medicare premiums and I qualify for LIHEAP, but that's about it. I am trying to hold it together until the county engineer visits to inspect the property to advise what my options are (to fix the water runoff issues).
Thanks for your input!

If you're in a borough, you might be able to point fingers at nearby streets or other government property and get some help from your local council. In a township, that's much less likely. If it's due to living on a flood plain, you could see if there's a local watershed organization that could offer some advice.
Weatherization doesn't help with waterproofing, but they might be able to refer you to someone. I would also suggest any charitable organizations in your area, like Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scout Council, Lions or Rotary, and Catholic Charities. Best case scenario would be that one of them can turn you into their Spring project, and at the very least they might be able to connect you to people who can help.
Don't panic until you see the county engineer. If he's any good at his job, he's dealt with these issues before and might be able to steer you in the right direction.
is the water coming from the property behind you ??? i don't know anything about financial help but i guess need to ask the county about this problem and ask how to fix it for you are disabled ...sorry i am no help ..ask the MS society if they can be of any help ...
my only ideas are to first type in what you need on a search engine: help for low income and household repairs. then i would maybe approach companies. some smaller ones might help b/c they're small enough to care and larger ones might help b/c it makes them look good.
