Brain vibrations

I have this really strange sensation that my brain is vibrating or there is a low level of electrical current running through it. It happens when I turn my head or even when I swallow. I can make it happen or stop it just by repositioning my head. But last night it woke me up and would not stop. Anybody experience this?

Sorry never experienced that, but would like to know if anyone else has and what the cause might be.

Not heard of this before. What does your neurologist say it is? 😊

I'm between neurologists. Old one retired. I wish the MS would retire. I hate it when doctors retire. I also hate it when hairdressers retire.

My problem are dentists and hairdressers both cause me distress. Hopefully the new one will be a ms specialist. Let us know how you get on and I hope and pray that the vibrations stop. Blessings Jimeka 😊

The new neurologist is not a MS specialist but she come highly recommended by several MS friends.

Don’t forget to write all your symptoms down, no matter how small and make her listen to you. When is your next appointment with her? 😊

In a couple of weeks. I will have my husband write everything down. The new Dr is in the same office as the retired one so she has access to all my records.

It sounds like a variation of the Lhermitte's sign.

that's what i was wondering about. for me, it's the classic bend my head and what i call 'lightning pain' occurs... but then it goes down my arms and legs when it's really bad and it's been painful enough to wake me from a deep sleep.

Yes, I looked that up and maybe that's what I am dealing with. It often happens when I swallow.

I get this strange sensation every so often, but it feels more like: there is not enough brain fluid supporting my brain. It is a very strange feeling that is very hard to describe. My doc, super cool guy, probably one of the best, said: HUH, let's check and see if you have a CFL leak. Anyways, negative on that leak. I asked him if he wanted to check my bladder next. LoL

I experience the same thing and it feels like popcorn popping with cracking. It’s a very weird feeling. I asked my neurologist about it and not really a clear answer the reason why.

I experienced this sensation in the past. Doctor couldn't find any particular cause. But it stopped after about 6 months and haven't experienced it again.

Is it kind of a buzzy feeling? I had that just prior to being diagnosed. Went to the ER where they say my eyes jerking while following their pen. Was admitted for 3 days but nothing was discovered.

Interesting, sometimes when I am sitting with my head back against the chair, I feel what I think of as a tremor in my head. I guess it could be described as a vibration but I think of it as a tremor. It will go away simply by turning my head.

Yes, that's what it does, but turning my head didn't work.

It sounds like Lhermitte's sign.

Mine would go down one arm starting at my neck. It would stop me in my tracks.

At the time, before I knew I had Ms, I was treated with cortisone injections. It did help.

I haven't had that problem for a long time. I hope you can get some help for it.

I looked up Lhermettes sign and it sounds like that may be what it is. However it is not painful, it just makes noise and that's what woke me up. And the fact that I couldn't make it stop... Thanks for the link.

I've heard of such things, but luckily, I don't heave, and really don't care to. Sounds absolutely nasty. I can burn in hell each night, finally falling asleep and waking up with charred sheets and numb burnt feet from an evening of burning feet syndrome (it's called dysesthesia), but got that under control after years of hellish near sleepless nights having gone through multiple M.S. Neurologists' war chests of drugs, without success, but have it under control with CBD from hemp flower, lightly heated, nothing added, lab tested. I never was able to do anything about my vision world non-stopped scrolling like a broken vertical hold on an old tube tv.. through out that what felt like forever, was 6 weeks? But luckily, most things were just another roller coaster ride with RRMS. They get worse, then they get better. As long as they go away. The many that stick however??? Well that's another story. Just that they be bearable. It's amazing what you can learn to live with, with the right attitude? Good Luck!Wait, did you say how long you've had this??? Going back....Back. Nope, not that I saw. So may your roller coaster ride be short and bearable. Also, I hate roller coasters!

These vibrations (for lack of a better description) don't hurt at all and usually don't last more than a few seconds....if I just preposition my head. The one that woke me up lasted for an hour or so. This has gone on for years. I've had PPMS for almost 30 years. I've pnever tried CBD. And I've never been a fan of roller coasters.

Ouch. See if the CBD helps?

I have had L'Hermitte's and I have been experiencing these vibrating sensations, they don't seem related but I don't know for sure. I will have it in my head and face! Then I will have it in my back and four limbs too all while being on my 4800mg Gabapentin, 90mg MS Contin, 60mg Baclofen, 400mg Topiramate per day. I'm still in bed Way too much!

Thanks for your reply. I don’t get this vibration, or for lack of a better description as a feeling of a low wattage electrical current, anywhere but in my brain. I take Baclofen and also have a Baclofen pump but I don't think it has any effect on it vibrations.
